But Mother's Day celebrates a huge lie about the value of women: that mothers are superior beings, that they have done more with their lives and chosen a more difficult path. Ha! Every woman's path is difficult, and many mothers were as equipped to raise children as wire monkey mothers. I say that without judgment: It is, sadly, true. An unhealthy mother's love is withering.

At least she’s being honest. Truth is, Liberals hate EVERYTHING. This is why I am a strong proponent of voluntary euthenasia for Liberals. Let them have some peace.
Hater!
My Mom and I had an “uneven” relationship, but I miss her terribly, especially on Mother’s Day. Last week I went to a Greek Food Festival. A friend and I go every year. When Mom was alive, I used to stop at the pastry table and buy her some baklava and other Greek goodies. Kind of makes me sad that she’s gone and I can’t do that for her anymore.
I was born two years before the author and I don’t have such “issues” with my folks. I wish they were both here. They were wise, noble, conservative people. They weren’t particularly demonstrative — no hugging/kissing — but you always knew they loved you. They weren’t perfect parents, but they did their best and that’s good enough for me.
The question you have to ask is what makes these people so bitter.
I dislike Mother’s Day because, in spite of all the words and (possibly) flowers, it boils down to, “Another day for you to serve us, Mom. Where are my jeans? That’s not what I wanted for breakfast.”
This is what I signed up for, but please don’t pretend you’re “celebrating” me while I do everything for you.
“Salon still publishing?”
I want to start a “news” site called Saloon. All of the writers will be 3 sheets to the wind when they post. Know any potential “journalists”?
I married a woman who birthed three children, worked her whole life to raise them and then died in my arms. I saw her entire role as a mother and now I know that mothers are special and superior, IMHO.
But I am absolutely right about this.
And maybe the reason for that is they hate themselves for some reason.
I Love you Mom !
I guess I never viewed Mothers Day as sticking it to women who don’t have kids. By this kind of view of the world we can’t celebrate anything because there will always be people excluded from whatever group wants to celebrate something. The only saving grace to this kind of thinking would be maybe we’d finally be rid of a bunch of liberal PC crap to have to tolerate ‘celebrating’.
I also never thought of moms or women in general being superior beings to anyone else. They are flawed people just like the rest of us. We can all still appreciate the positive ldeals of motherhood even though no mother can live upto those ideals. They still celebrate what motherhood should be even when they know they haven’t always been the best.
I would off myself if my soul was that black. She sounds like a blackhole of human emotion.
‘3 sheets to the wind’ - you’re already talking about most ‘professional’ journalists.
She’s looking for offense where there is none so she can play the victim. I agree, some serious issues there.
Seems it worked out even better for the telephone companies.
Ann needs to go find her meds. She is definitely having some issues on this Mother’s Day weekend. Her Father’s Day rant should be a real winner!
The bitter fruit of a radical feminist who is confusing her Marxist egalitarian ideology with the reality of nature.
Motherhood is a gift of God.
I wonder how many visits to planned parenthood she’s made.
I'm off to take mom & family to a local Brazil Rotisserie this evening. ...starved myself all day. :)
