DAYTON, Ohio -- A pit bull bit and injured a woman in the back yard of her Fernwood Avenue home on Monday after several dogs started fighting.
The incident occurred around noon at 129 Fernwood Ave. as the woman was trying to call her two pit bulls inside her home, according to Sgt. Bill Keller. The woman, who is believed to be at least 40, was trying to get her dogs inside because she noticed two other pit bulls had entered her yard. "At this time one of the strange pit bulls that wasn't supposed to be in her yard bit her on both arms fairly severely," Keller said. "She then called police," Keller said.
While the woman was inside, the dogs continued to fight outside. When police arrived they noticed that the woman had puncture wounds and blood on her arms.
Animal Resource Center officers were called to the scene. They rounded up all the dogs, who were covered in blood, after using pepper spray on at least one of the dogs, Keller said. The woman's dogs, both of which were injured, were taken for safe- keeping.
The woman told police she believed the other two dogs belong to someone in the neighborhood, but police had not identified the owner as of 1:30 p.m., according to Keller.
"There will be an investigation done to find out what charges are most appropriate," Keller said.
You *actually* expected a factually based/thoroughly researched statement from him?
When all he offers are the parrotings of other poster’s comments and one line [in his mind] “rebuttals”?
Joe...I’m so disappointed.
:-P
The Denver city fathers did just that when they rounded up pitbulls in their ban and euthanized them wholesale.
Guess killing other people's pets is ok with you as long as they're pit bulls...
Just curious...does your ‘post content’ originate from a “Magic 8 Ball”?
Oh, now. That really really hurts./s What? You think my skin is that thin? Nice try. Evidence? So, these threads on actual cases of unprovoked attacks by pit bulls are all lies! That is really great to know/s. You love pits. We get that. You want to own a pit, that’s your choice. Wonderful thing about living in this country - you get to make that choice. But, your pit attacks another person or another person’s pet, or, heaven forbid, one of your own family members (or even you - yes, I do not or would not wish that upon you), you then cannot claim you didn’t know the danger. I hope you never experience this - I hope no one who defends this breed ever experiences this. But, failing to acknowledge that the potential does exist is nothing less than a sign of either ignorance or denial.
>>>>>”I stand by that statement. There will not be a total breed ban on pits or any other breed in the whole of the U.S. anytime soon. There could be bans put into place on a small scale, but you wont see it for the entire country. So, if the area you live in does manage to ban the breed, move.”<<<<<
(Ahem!)
“There are 11 countries who are banning pit bull.”
There are several countries who are still in the process of creating legislation banning pit bull.
The nine have already passed legislation banning the said type of dog.
These countries are: BELGIUM(breed-specific restrictions),BRAZIL (proposed breed-specific restrictions/bans, CANADA, DENMARK , FINLAND, FRANCE, HOLLAND, NORWAY, NEW ZEALAND, POLAND, PUERTO RICO, SWEDEN

Cue Frank Zappa:
“It can’t happen HERE”
Man. There are at least 40,000 comedians currently out of work. I hope you are employed with this material. Not likely though.
I’m not sure.
I think he just attempted an “ad womanem.”
There are those that would have us more like europe...I’m not one of them....
Surprise!
I have no more [and no less] love for pits than any other breed of dog and do NOT own one.
I do, however, detest fascist, tyrannical decrees handed down by ignorant overlords.
*I* am smart enough to try and fight the slide into *any* kind of legislative tyranny before it becomes irreversible.
Too bad you are unable to grasp that concept.
You talk a lot and say absolutely nothing.
‘I think he just attempted an ad womanem.
Pfffft.
Some “attempt”.
Hmmmm....that’s a very liberal theory, Joe.
[who ~would~ think like that?]
What does this title have to do with home owner associations? Could it be that the source of the article is not all that trustworthy? That the only purpose of the entire article is to induce fear of a wholesale and far reaching ban on people from owning pets?
Funny though. My son, serving in the Army, went out and got himself an American Bull Dog and a Malanoise - two dogs on that banned list. Just one of those things that makes one go, "Hmmmmmm".
ARMY
The Army has endorsed a similar dog ban at its privately run housing facilities, according to William Costlow, a spokesman for U.S. Army Installation Management Command.
There is no ban for Army family housing in traditional on-base settings, Army spokesmen said.
Pray, tell, does the fruit of your loins live *on* or *off* base, "Dad"?
So, you are against efforst of anyone to try to educate people to the potential dangers of owning this or other breeds known to cause significant damage when they attack? That’s a shame.
I presume you mean a Belgian Malinois.
I can tell you from first hand personal experience, the worst case of dog attack I have ever seen, was to a local Postal Worker with whom I am personally acquainted.
The Malinois in question was an "off duty" K-9 officer which escaped from it's handler's back yard.
Our friend is still in therapy.
It's been two years.
When he first obtained his Malanoise, and then the American Bull Dog he was living on post. They eventually moved off post. Does that help?
And, you’re going to try and equate a trained police dog with an average family pet of the same breed. Just wow.
I find that it takes only one, namely you to go against all the lovers of the dog of peace...good job....they have to come out in numbers to maintain their courage...:O)
