Dayton woman left bloodied after pit bull attack

By Matt Natali @ May 3, 2010 4:17 PM Permalink | Comments (0)

DAYTON, Ohio -- A pit bull bit and injured a woman in the back yard of her Fernwood Avenue home on Monday after several dogs started fighting.

The incident occurred around noon at 129 Fernwood Ave. as the woman was trying to call her two pit bulls inside her home, according to Sgt. Bill Keller. The woman, who is believed to be at least 40, was trying to get her dogs inside because she noticed two other pit bulls had entered her yard. "At this time one of the strange pit bulls that wasn't supposed to be in her yard bit her on both arms fairly severely," Keller said. "She then called police," Keller said.

While the woman was inside, the dogs continued to fight outside. When police arrived they noticed that the woman had puncture wounds and blood on her arms.

Animal Resource Center officers were called to the scene. They rounded up all the dogs, who were covered in blood, after using pepper spray on at least one of the dogs, Keller said. The woman's dogs, both of which were injured, were taken for safe- keeping.

The woman told police she believed the other two dogs belong to someone in the neighborhood, but police had not identified the owner as of 1:30 p.m., according to Keller.

"There will be an investigation done to find out what charges are most appropriate," Keller said.

That wasn’t a pitbull. It was a military grade stealth poodle with holographic camoflage that makes it look like a pitbull.

No. I’m blaming the messenger for posting the same story over, and over, and over, and over; like a street preacher. This should be posted on a dog lover’s web site, not here.

Here’s some perspective.

“The Clifton study of attacks from 1982 through 2006 produced similar results. According to Clifton study, pit bulls, Rottweilers, Presa Canarios and their mixes were responsible for 65% of the canine homicides that occurred during a period of 24 years in the USA. (Clifton, Dog attack deaths and maimings, U.S. & Canada, September 1982 to November 13, 2006.

Other breeds were also responsible for homicides, but to a much lesser extent. A 1997 study of dog bite fatalities in the years 1979 through 1996 revealed that the following breeds had killed one or more persons: pit bulls, Rottweilers, German shepherds, huskies, Alaskan malamutes, Doberman pinschers, chows, Great Danes, St. Bernards and Akitas. (Dog Bite Related Fatalities,” Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, May 30, 1997, Vol. 46, No. 21, pp. 463 et. seq.) Since 1975, fatal attacks have been attributed to dogs from at least 30 breeds.”

Prove that the story on this thread was posted over and over and over. Or, are you opposed to someone posting any stories regarding attacks by pit bulls?

Not “this” exact story. You know how to see all the posts made.

Ah. So it IS all about your opposition to any story regarding a pit bull attack.

" Damn, dude. Why do you hate canines so much?"

Chet has done great work, raising public consciousness of the Pit Bull Menace, thus paving the way for the true crusade to begin.

Not just "breed specific" but "*Species Specific*" legislation, aimed at the beast that is responsible for more human deaths in Africa than ~all other animals~ combined!

Yes! We are talking about the poorly drawn, but nontheless vicious "Angry Attack Hippo" -

If you carefully check the posting history, you will find that Chet has, on several occasions reposted the same story with different titles.

I will not speculate on his reason for doing this, but it is, nontheless, a fact, and has occurred within the last two weeks on at least two separate occasions.
