I originally posted this as an addendum to
this thread, but it probably deserves a thread of its own.

The article is blocked. I am at work. Love Joni and enjoyed Dylan. How much slicing did Joni do in this article?
To: EveningStar
Dylan listened to lots of old 78s of rural groups to come up with his sound.
He admits it.
All honest musicians admit they borrow from what came before.
The dishonest ones pretend like their music was immaculately conceived.

His voice always got on my nerves. He can’t sing worth a $hit. “The answer my friend is blowing out your butt, the answer is blowing out your butt.” Great going Joanie!

One barely-there talent attacking another barely-there talent.
Whatever.

Dylan may be a “phony”, but Joni Mitchell is simply a drug addled hack herself.

I didn’t read the article, but it says Bob Dylan is a homo, huh?
I’d be more surprised if I knew anything about him.

If I wrote this article, I would have written it about Eric Clapton instead.

Bob [Dylan] is not authentic at all." He's certainly not an authentic "folky" ....which is a major compliment. Bob has a lot of fiscal (and even some social) conservative views that rile many in the folk crowd.
But Dylan's songwriting and lyric talents are of the highest caliber.

If recording company PR guys and the media could sell Bob Zimmerman as a genius, is it any wonder they could sell Barak Hussein Obama as a viable presidential candidate?
Although I was always curious who the first person was who told Dylan he was a singer.

I like Bob Dylan. I don't care if he got his style from listening to others. That's how everyone develops their own style.
Sounds like Joni is a bit jealous to be coming out and attacking him like that.

LOL.
The mere mention of Bob Dylan’s name will cause haters to spring forth from the ground much like the waters of the great flood.
And Joni Mitchell accusing others of sleeping around? That’s the funniest thing of all. The phrase “go ahead and [sleep with]* her, I did” was coined for her. It’s a good thing Crosby Still Nash and Young were only 4 guys, and not a marching band.
*replace with 4 letter word
That being said, I still like her music (kind of - her latest cd has some pretty good stuff on it), but there are very few Dylan cds NOT on my iPod (thank God for 120 gig iPod classics).

The real tragedy is that none of these very well-documented and nigh irrefutable plagiarism charges will ever emerge from the shadowsSpare me the histrionics!

It's all in the first sentence of this article.
Here is the original LA Times article.

His tone might not be pleasant, but as far as delivery and making his voice fit the mood of the song he is among the best. And he has also done an excellent job of rearranging his older material to fit his voice as it now is and using a fully band.
