...Ultimately SmackDown marks the devolving of the network for a sweet, sweet slice of that 18-to-34 male demographic that sponsors love so much. That means money...
After all, the problem isnt simply Syfys addition of wrestling to its lineup. The network inexplicably welcomed wrestling years ago with Extreme Championship Wrestling and more recently with WWE NXT, but bringing the bigger budget Friday Night SmackDown to the schedule marks a shift in priorities...

Yea Giant spiders must still be a challenge for them.
I have only seen a little over a hundred of them so far.

The best was Sylvia Plath's typewriter.
But judging from the last episode, I don't expect the next season to be very good.

I think this is astute, regardless of the rest of the replies.

Also having Sam Carter was a very big bonus.
Well Amanda Tapping does have big bonuses

I agree with most of the sentiments expressed in this thread, but I do have to say that every now and then, even a blind pig will find an acorn.
I haven't seen anyone mention the movie "Riverworld." While it certainly didn't hold to Farmer's novel, it was still a very enjoyable 3 or 4 hour movie (I noticed that most commercial breaks had a LOT of commercials... I counted as many as 10 in a row!)

The writing was on the wall when NBC bought them. Quality started degenerating immediately. Sci-Di channel was good then, within a year it was less than half of what it was, now the final nail is in the coffin.

SciFi...err SyFy is losing its punch because it is whoring soap operas as SciFi (see Battlestar Gallactica, Sancutary, Stargate Universe) instead of producing quality Sci Fi programming.
Interesting, though, that one NBC owned affiliate (MS DNC) is trashing another (SyFy).

"Sci-Fi blew it a long time ago. Stargate Universe, Sci-Fis version of As the Stomach Churns, the Outer Space version. BLECH!"Yep. I've watched SyFy for years, but that and the wrestling have turned me off almost completely. Now, I watch what I WANT on Netflix or hulu.

I loved Dresden, and am trying to make Firefly on netflix last as long as possible (but I did buy the disks...). There were some really great series SyFy could have run with. Even the corny "Warehouse 13" was watchable. Sad.

Never heard of it before I hit found that link this morning. ENver heard of the novella either.I read the novella. While it was interesting, it certainly couldn't be enough to develop a series out of it - unless you take only names and locations...

I enjoyed a lot of it, but it was only good about half the time, the rest was just pablum.

The Dresden Files should not have been canceled. It was really just starting and had great Sci Fi potential.

Funny, until you mentioned Spike, it hadn’t occurred to me that I don’t think I’ve watched that channel in years now. Do they have anything worth watching? (I knew I clicked on it briefly once because the guide said “TNA Wrestling”. FALSE ADVERTISING, let me tell you!!!!)

What this channel needs to do is go back to its roots and start showing SciFi shows.
Doctor Who from the first episode ever.
All the Star Treks
BSG Old and New
Buck Rogers
A SciFi Movie of the Week.
Have fans vote on Movies and Series to be shown.
They have been going downhill for a couple of years now.

I watched the Mothman movie simply because it was about Mothman but it was a very stupid movie and it could have been any monster.

When you talk about going back to your roots. I would love to see them run the old 1930s’ serials in the overnight hours. I mean sure they were pure camp, but they are also a lot of fun. Sure it's not prime time material, but i would DVR it. It has to be better than infomercials at 3:00 am
