When you're grilling, nothing's more handy than a digital thermometer...except maybe these: Tongs that incorporate a very fine temperature probe so you don't need to fiddle with multiple tools.
Test 7 meat types (beef, veal, lamb, pork, poultry, turkey, and ground beef) to see if they meet the USDA regulations for char. Then, assuming you bought your meat from a decent butcher, disregard the hogwash and eat your burger so rare that you can feel the cow's heartbeat with every bite.
Dangerous advice for ground beef. How many retailers grind their own ground beef these days? Even if they do, are you willing to trust your life to every employee there?

Am I willing to trust my life with any employee there?

I for one dont like burnt meat. I quit eating out when the waiter no longer asked How do you want your steak? I prefer my steak red in the middle, my burger pink in the middle. A properly prepared piece of meat is cooked so long its dried out. I like it juicy.
Tainted veggies are much more likely to kill you than tainted meat.
My daughter gave me a wireless digital meat thermometer for Christmas.
It’s the cat’s a___!
Set the temp.,carry the receiver on your belt if desired and it warns, then tells you when the internal temp. has been reached.
Great for roasts. Slow cooked a prime rib roast Wed. night. Perfection.

Lawd have mercy.
Now THAT’s done right!
Glad there’s at least one person on the planet who agrees with me! My family thinks I’m c-r-a-z-y. OTOH, I think their meat is w-a-y overcooked. ...it’s a constant battle. ;)
