PHOENIX (AP) -- A missing handwritten transcript from a coroner's inquest done after the legendary gunfight at the OK Corral has resurfaced in a dusty box more than 125 years after the most famous shootout in Wild West history. The document resurfaced when court clerks stumbled on the box while reorganizing files in an old jail storage room in Bisbee, about 20 miles south of Tombstone. Stuffed inside was a modern manila envelope marked "keep" with the date 1881.

Wifey and I cruised throught Tombstone about a year ago, since we’d stopped for an overnight in nearby Benson....interesting place, but waaaaay commercialized, with period characters pimping the tourists from every corner - “Come see OUR gunfight recreation! Ours is the closest to the read thang!”
I thought you said CLINTON gang!
Boot hill in Tombstone is pretty cool to visit some of the signs on the graves were interesting
Indeed... they are interesting to read... I've got a couple of them memorized, at least from about 30 years ago, anyway, if they still read the same now as they did then :-) ...
One was ...
Here lies Lester Moore
Shot by a 44
No Les, No More
LOL ... and then there was this one, short and to the point ...
Hanged by Mistake
Apparently a mob chased this guy down the street, thinking he was guilty of the crime (can't remember what crime it was now, but it was a hanging offense anyway). Well... after the mob hanged him, they found out he wasn't guilty after all... ooops.... :-)
LOL ... probably just as criminal ...
From what I’ve read the Clantons were scum but the Earps were no angels either.
And that gunfight didn’t make heroes of them. What made them heroes was Wyatt living long enough to pitch his life story to Hollywood and to tell his version of the story to John Ford. He even drew Ford a map. I’ve always wondered if it was Wyatt or Ford who called it The GUNFIGHT AT THE OKAY CORRAL when it actually took place in a vacant lot next door. I doubt GUNFIGHT IN THE VACANT LOT would have sold very well.
Apparently his version was the true one since they were acquitted of murder charges.
Yeah I was fortunate to tour Old Tucson studios where Tombstone was filmed before it burned down
And it really felt strange standing in the actual ok corral knowing that gunfight took place there
No Karl Urban was McCoy in the new ST movie and they’re talking about a sequel. Yes!

Here are a couple of pictures ...

Joseph 'Ike' Clanton 1881
Did somebody say "McCoy" and "OK Corral" in the same thread?

Interesting site! Thanks!
If your knowledge of Tombstone history has been from watching Hollywood movies, you need to hear the Clanton's side of the story...
Ike Clanton tells it like it is, the truth about the Clanton's of Tombstone.
good episode but it was Chekov’s character that shined

Excellent movie!
RE #13:
McCoy: “Hey Wyatt. I’m a doctor, not a gun-fighter”.
Wyatt Earp to McCoy: “You are now. Lock and load.”
Wyatt Earp, Wyatt Earp,
Brave, courageous and bold,
Long live his fame, and long live his glory,
And long may his story be told.
#36: re the pictures of “My Darline Clementine” 1946.
You forgot Ward Bond, one of the great anti-communist leaders of Hollywood, along with Reagan and John Wayne, in the 40’s & 50’s.
According to Hollywood friends/writers I know, John Wayne protected Ward Bond from the communists own “blacklist” of anti-communist actors. Wayne was unable to protect Adolph Majou (sp) and he was never able to really get a good role in Hollywood again.
Bond, according to a letter I have from him to a friend, led the protests against Communist Charlie Chaplin in the 50’s. One day I’ll post this letter for all to see.
If any of you Hollywood fans are interested in seeing this letter, contact me thru the Private Reply email and I’ll try to find it and send a copy to you.
