From what I’ve read the Clantons were scum but the Earps were no angels either.
And that gunfight didn’t make heroes of them. What made them heroes was Wyatt living long enough to pitch his life story to Hollywood and to tell his version of the story to John Ford. He even drew Ford a map. I’ve always wondered if it was Wyatt or Ford who called it The GUNFIGHT AT THE OKAY CORRAL when it actually took place in a vacant lot next door. I doubt GUNFIGHT IN THE VACANT LOT would have sold very well.
Apparently his version was the true one since they were acquitted of murder charges.
