Tea Party Express endorses Democrat in IdahoShare23posted at 8:48 am on April 21, 2010 by Ed Morrissey
Vaughn Ward wonders when the Tea Party Express passed him by. The Republican challenger to Blue Dog Democrat Rep. Walt Minnick in Idaho figured to at least have a shot at an endorsement to switch the seat from a vote for Nancy Pelosi and Democratic control of the House. Instead, the Tea Party Express endorsed Minnick, and left a lot of head-scratching behind in Idaho afterward:

IMHO there are no good contemporary 'rats so what's going on here? Has the Idaho TPE been infiltrated already? Admittedly, Ward has no record, but that doesn't mean much when your opponent is someone who voted for Pelosi and will again. And, Minnick may have been allowed to vote against stimulus and health bills because the 'rats didn't need his vote.

I don’t like this ‘endorsing peeps’ thing very much.....because I believe the Tea Party to be ‘leaderless’....but that’s JMHO.

The loons who endorsed the Democrat are not capable of seeing the big picture.
The more wins for the Democrats = Democrat majority = Pelosi
continues as Speaker of the House.
also Democrats will again have the chairmanship of the Committees and the majority on the Committees.
It is this same all or nothing crowd who helped with Obama’s win in 08.

In my opinion, if there was a Democrat that could be endorsed, it would be Minnick. But, I would have had to insist that he publicly guarantee that he would not vote for Pelosi as Speaker under any circumstance in order to get that endorsement.
The problem being, collecting on that promise. AKA, Bart Stupak.

Tea Partiers will make up their own minds. An endorsement only tells them something about the person or entity doing the endorsement. That is all.

Funny thing, Bart Stupak was the first thing to enter my mind when I read this. I don’t think there was ever any doubt in Stupak’s mind where his vote would go-he played almost everyone for suckers-almost, because he didn’t have me fooled for a second, he’s a ‘rat.

Just a bunch of idiots in Idaho... they did not get my permission... and it is just as valid as theirs.

Very disappointed. Hope we all learned the lesson of Bart Stupak. Whether any candidate get the endorsement of the Tea Party is not important anymore. I say at this point, we as conservative need to identified the right candidate and put them in office. It time to kick these Pelosi follower out of office. Just remember, there are no Blue Dog Democrat, instead they are a bunch of Laugh Dog Democrat. I rest my case.

Do a search on “Tea Party Express” and hijack. A number of blogs have noted a close link between the TPE and Russo Marsh and Rogers, a GOP lobbying firm. Why is Sarah Palin involved? I haven’t the foggiest.

Folks have their own brains and after Stupak, its hard to justify taking any chances.

Sarah Palin is not involved in this race, but another Idaho House race where a former serviceman is challenging the Establishment candidate.
Back to Minnock, the Tea Party has to endorse some Democrats to hold the big club over the RINOs’ heads.

I think the TPE desperately wants to claim the mantle of bipartisanship - meaning, they need to find a democrat or two to support. This figure this guy is the best they can find.

The Tea Party Express is a PAC and is not the grassroots Tea Party Patriots. The local TPP cannot endorse a candidate due to election laws...
