Goodell: Roethlisberger violated conduct policy (key issue is a "pattern of behavior")

NEW YORK – NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has violated the league's personal-conduct policy.

Goodell said on the Dan Patrick radio show Monday there has been a "violation" and the key issue is a "pattern of behavior."

Last week, prosecutors in Georgia declined to charge Roethlisberger after a college student accused him of sexual assault in March. The NFL is expected to discipline Roethlisberger, although it says there is no timetable for such a decision.

Agreed. For all the noise about what a great quarterback he is, Ben has a number of flaws...on the field as well as off.

It’s too bad the Steelers didn’t keep Byron Lefwich (I probably misspelled the name...sorry). As I recall, he was an able backup quarterback...could have been a starter. Whatever happens to Ben, the Steelers had better get at least one more quarterback.

That motorcycle crash messed up his head. He's so dopey now.

I bet he gets a 6-8 game suspension.

Dude, you’re the one upset that a 28 year old man is chasing twenty somethings...not me. You’re the one claiming someone is guilty without even being arrested or charged...I guess you’re just upset that Ben’s getting some and you’re not. LMAO

I believe the maximum suspension Goodell can impose is four games, based on the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the NFLPA.

Big Ben has a home on Lake Oconee that is not far from this “college bar”. There aren’t many “happening” bars in that area of Georgia for a 28 year old to properly celebrate his birthday. On another forum one anti-Big Ben poster actually suggested to me that he should have gone to the local Mellow Mushroom instead....LOL

If Goodell doesn’t suspend him then the race baiters, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, will be out in full force against the NFL.

"Dude, you’re the one upset that a 28 year old man is chasing twenty somethings...not me."

I couldn't care less that a man - any man - was getting laid. I am, however, disappointed that a man who is 6'5" has to resort to man-handling to satisfy his "urges". As someone else pointed out, Derek Jeter is a prolific ladies man, and yet you've never heard a SINGLE accusation like this about him, but we've heard several about Roethlisberger.

You’re the one claiming someone is guilty without even being arrested or charged...I guess you’re just upset that Ben’s getting some and you’re not. LMAO

Bill Clinton raped several women and was never charged or arrested - wealth, power and privilege has that affect.

Only a personal with a juvenile demeanor would be "LMAO" when the subject is sexual predation. I'm sure your mother is proud.

Dude, Derek Jeter is gay....he’s just seen with those high profile women to keep his endorsements...that’s why “you’ve never heard a SINGLE accusation like this about him”....LOL. And I’m sure you are convinced that Crystal Magnum was raped at that frat house at Duke...she said she was, remember? A DA said she was, remember? Did you know that this young “lady” followed Big Ben to three different bars. Bet you thought she mistakenly entered the bar after attending Wednesday night church services in Millegeville......now I’m really LMAO.

So whatcha gonna do, Dan? Cowher won for YEARS without a quarterback, even getting to a Super Bowl and several championship games. Unfortunately your affirmative action coach can’t do the same. So does Ben stay or go?

Playing in the AFC Central... perennially the weakest division in the NFL.

“he should have gone to the local Mellow Mushroom instead”

That’s hilarious. More evidence of his poor decision making, not going to the Mellow Mushroom.

Goodell can kick him out of the league. The longest the team can suspend a player is 4 games, the league has nearly unlimited suspension power, though the PA could sue to get Ben re-instated.
