What did you do yesterday? It was a beautiful day for plinking (Vanity)

Had a great time plinking yesterday. My son, a son-in-law, and yours truly did a guy thing. We went to Knob Creek Range to zero a new 10-22 my son-in-law recently purchased.

Luckily we took plenty of .22 ammunition along with some other. We ended up burning through the majority of a 550 round loose pack box. Between the 10-22 and my son's Mk II we had a great time. We also took a WW2 vintage M1911A1 (made in 1943). There were some soldiers from Ft Knox in the lane beside us. Let them each burn through a magazine of .45 with the M1911. The ammunition we had for it was fairly old, the 240 grain round nose that cost $10.95 for a box of 50. They in turn had a Sig 229 in .40 they let me try out. Wow, this old geezer entered into a new world with that. My BD is in a few days so I am dropping some seious hints around the family.

Had occation to be out to the Sport Range at Ft Richardson - (sorry, public not allowed). Two young men were there with an M1911A1, and new M-1 carine (KAhr) and a M-1 Garad.

They must have shot through $250 worth of ammo - but they were having fun, you might even say a blast.

The KAhr M-1 remake is a very nice piece, I wished I had the $800 for one......

Shot my new (old) Winchester Model 61 for the first time. Sweet. Ditto for the Browning Semi Auto .22. A few rounds thru the Colt Diamondback and S&W Model 66 capped off a great weekend.

Our next trip will be to French Range on Ft Knox. It is sort of open to the public. I have no problem since I am a Department of the Army Civilian and retired military. My son and son-in-law have to go thru a local files check and purchase a Ft Knox MWR card. French Range is closer, cheaper and easier to use.

Thats cool, is the MWR card for ‘civilians’ related to Dod types? I’m not aware of the program.

I would love to be able to take daughter and son-in-law to the Fort Range, since I have a RangeMaster card, and go early, it makes a shooting session very accomadating....

Yep, they get an MWR card and just pay the regular daily range fee. I can get a yearly/quarterly/monthly membership, but don’t shoot enough right now to make it worth the money.

Wow, thanks for the link. Ft Rich hasn’t opened any of it’s ranges for public use.

I’ll see if I can generate any interest with the local MWR at the Fort.

Thanks again!
