9-Year Old Badly Hurt In Pit Bull Attack By Michael George SHEBOYGAN- 9-year old A.J. Sterling is recovering at home after being attacked by a pit bull. His injuries are severe, and his parents are angry with the dogs owners.
Witness Connor Lieser tells TODAYS TMJ4 the attack appeared to be unprovoked, as the boy was reaching down to pet the dog.
Maria Ramirez and Afero Sterling, parents of A.J., just watched him go through plastic surgery. He was bitten on the face by the pit bull just one block from his home in Sheboygan.
I wouldnt want any child to go through that, let alone any person. Its just really hard, said Ramirez.
Police say the dog was being walked by a 12-year old girl on the sidewalk. A.J.s parents say their son told them he was talking to the girl when the dog started growling. A.J. says he was backing away.
Thats when the dog lunged at him. He said it bit him in the face, drug him across the ground, and thats when it ripped his cheek off, said Afero Sterling.
The gruesome injury described by Afero is confirmed by witness and police accounts.
Police will be checking whether the dog has a history of violence or has rabies. For now, the dog is on quarantine at the owners home. A.J.s parents say they were told the dog was originally rescued from an abusive or neglectful background. They say the dogs current owners are to blame for the attack.
That dog needs to be put to sleep. To have a 12-year old girl walk around a pit bull with a history of abuse and neglect and violence, its just absurd to me, said Maria Ramirez.
A.J. is now out of the hospital and recovering at home, but he will likely need more plastic surgery in 6 months. Police are still investigating to determine whether any charges will be filed against the owner or whether the dog will be surrendered or put down.
OK fair enough.
Oddly with Chet and his usual obsession with pitbulls something along these lines happened today to my younger brother’s best friend’s 3 year old
Except it was not a Pitbull...freepers lament I’m sure.
It was a Rottweiler...the dog most often associated with serious attacks (Pits are second) followed by many others.
It was the grandad’s dog. It was known to be a mean doggie.
The father was at work and the 3 year old was with grandad’s family and somehow got in contact with the dog. The child was mauled badly and life flighted to Vandy from Clarksville with many contusions and lacerations and skull fracture and torn foot and undergoing surgery late this evening.
The gradnfather immediately cut the dog’s throat with his folding Buck. He is 60 and a former US Army Gunny with many CIB tours Southeast Asia. I’m sure he feels like crap.
The baby needs some prayers.
Big guard dogs of any type are potentially dangerous around toddlers period...not just pitbulls. It is disingenuous to act like they are the only or biggest threat.
Don’t know how the toddler got around the dog. I’m 75 miles away from there but I do know the baby’s dad.
Word up to anyone with a big dog.
anyone here who knows me knows I don’t make crap up....couldn’t find anything on Google but I’m sure it’s coming....Clarksville TN dog attack ....
ouch...tis only a flesh wound....:O)
You are aware, of course, that ad hominem automatically negates *anything* of value you *may* have had to say, don’t you?
[You *almost* slithered under the wire by merit of ambiguity/interpretation/etymological technicality but you just *couldn’t* resist “annotating” your definition, could you? Game over. Thanks for playing. Good bye.]
Seen worse.
Bobcats.
Weasel massacres.
Coons are rookies compared to them...especially the weasels.
More ad hominem.
Why do you even bother posting?
Careful, son.
You might split your pants.
Prayers up for the boy and his family...and you.
I can’t imagine what that little kid is going through - prayers for the docs and steady hands. And prayers for the entire family. I can’t imagine. I am still worried just with my “regular” mutts around the little ones. Even ones that will take just about anything from my kids - you never know. And, a three year old WILL get to places you don’t want them.
Alas and alack, thy words be all too true.
[but battle-hardened Usenet warriors know and that’s all that matters]....:)
If my dad knew what I was “getting into” as a kid, he’d have a retroactive heart attack.
[note to self: *never* try to “Roman ride” a Shetland pony and Quarter Horse simultaneously over a 2 foot jump ever again...exceedingly unwise and physically impossible]...:)
Her pits were giving the breed a bad name...She is now afraid she will lose one of her pits....that she had on her show to let everyone know how wonderful they were... They then went on to talk about pits that are HA or DA. It took me a while to figure out they meant Human agressive or dog agressive...I guess HA is worse than DA but it did give me a great laugh, but also kind of creepy..
Its not just on Free Republic that there are lots of pit defenders...and I don't know why they are so defensive.
If the neighbors dogs fulfill any of the legal requirements, you may shoot them and be within your legal rights.
So just shut up and shoot them.

Don’t ever put me “In Fear Of Loss Of Life!”,,,

“need something that’s light to carry and will penetrate through about five feet of their hair, hide, flesh and bones.”
OMG....you do *not* want to miss *this* one!
LOLOL!
That’s a damn big bear if a bullet has penetrate 5 *feet* to hit a vital organ.
They’re bigger than *hippos*!
LMAO...OMG...this just tears it, for good and all.
/wiping eyes
That was ~not~ the question.
I plainly asked which drugs she and Cesar Milan are taking.
So far, no answers.
Bear would scare the bejeebers out of me. We could hear coyote once in a while and this was only about 40 miles north of Detroit....the one that raised the hair on the back of my neck was something I never heard before and even my dog stopped to listen...After talking with the neighbor we figured it was the howling of a fox and found a fox hole behind one of my barns..Never saw one on the property tho.
LOL,,,Some folks just don’t understand what “Firepower”
means...;0)
Ok! ... OK!
We won’t try to make you shut up.
(Wouldn’t want you to start typing at us real hard or anything.)
