9-Year Old Badly Hurt In Pit Bull Attack (ripped his cheek off)

9-Year Old Badly Hurt In Pit Bull Attack By Michael George SHEBOYGAN- 9-year old A.J. Sterling is recovering at home after being attacked by a pit bull. His injuries are severe, and his parents are angry with the dog’s owners.

Witness Connor Lieser tells TODAY’S TMJ4 the attack appeared to be unprovoked, as the boy was reaching down to pet the dog.

Maria Ramirez and Afero Sterling, parents of A.J., just watched him go through plastic surgery. He was bitten on the face by the pit bull just one block from his home in Sheboygan.

“I wouldn’t want any child to go through that, let alone any person. It’s just really hard,” said Ramirez.

Police say the dog was being walked by a 12-year old girl on the sidewalk. A.J.’s parents say their son told them he was talking to the girl when the dog started growling. A.J. says he was backing away.

“That’s when the dog lunged at him. He said it bit him in the face, drug him across the ground, and that’s when it ripped his cheek off,” said Afero Sterling.

The gruesome injury described by Afero is confirmed by witness and police accounts.

Police will be checking whether the dog has a history of violence or has rabies. For now, the dog is on quarantine at the owner’s home. A.J.’s parents say they were told the dog was originally rescued from an abusive or neglectful background. They say the dog’s current owners are to blame for the attack.

“That dog needs to be put to sleep. To have a 12-year old girl walk around a pit bull with a history of abuse and neglect and violence, it’s just absurd to me,” said Maria Ramirez.

A.J. is now out of the hospital and recovering at home, but he will likely need more plastic surgery in 6 months. Police are still investigating to determine whether any charges will be filed against the owner or whether the dog will be surrendered or put down.

"For every shrieking news story, for every thread posted about it, the only things accomplished is to further aggrandize the “reputation” of these dogs,..."

That's an hysterical and illogical argument. The daily news about pit bull maulings, including killings of children, will continue to be published and circulated. If the frequent and true news of pit bulls killing children tends to "aggrandize the 'reputation' of these dogs" in the minds of criminals, it helps to bring those criminals down and deprive them of one of their tools.

"When someone feeds on the “scary” attention their dogs brings to them, the *only* way to defeat them is to *starve* them."

We feed their vanities before taking them down.

Pit bull worshippers here have been posting jokes and glee about pit bull maulings, then dishonest claims based on their liberal victimology.

I'll reiterate that anyone who uses illegal drugs will have a short life. It's also common knowledge that most pit bull owners are drug addicts. I have no pity or mercy for them.

It’s funny, how bullets know the difference between a chihuahua and a pit bull. Pit bulls are natural born bullet magnets, and their owners seem to be attracted to prisons.

“That’s an hysterical and illogical argument.”

Oh, spare me.
We are not living in the Victorian age.

“The daily news about pit bull maulings, including killings of children, will continue to be published and circulated. Yeah.
How’s that working out, so far?

Just like guns, *all* of them will be banned, therefore depriving responsible owners while the scum will continue to have them, regardless.

‘We feed their vanities before taking them down.”

That “psychology” is so bass-ackwards I hardly even know where to begin.

The military is mobilizing against pit bulls?

Otherwise, your post makes absolutely no contextual sense.

‘It’s also common knowledge that most pit bull owners are drug addicts. “

Apparently, a lot of your conservative FR compatriots have them.

Are they all junkies, too?

What is Rachel Ray or Cesar Milan’s “drug of choice”?

[Milan trains dogs for the LAPD, in case you didn’t know. I’d think they’d urine test him, at some point]

“Sweeping generalizations” are ineffective.

Yep. Trashy folks don't care about consequences, until they are severely punished.

And that “story” doesn’t send up red warning flags, to you?

Who could possibly _sleep through_ their newborn baby being ripped to shreds in bed, beside them?

Hell, I got my Dobermann pup when he was 5 1/2 weeks old and slept with him cuddled against my stomach.

If he so much as whimpered or moved in his sleep, my eyes snapped open instantly to check if he was okay and *I* didn’t even have all those “maternal instincts”/hormonal drives because he wasn’t actually my “baby”.

This story absolutely reeks of ‘something not yet known’.

[and *many* posters have said as much in their replies...have you interrogated *them*, as well?]

I agree with you on your 2 things that could make you do unspeakable things--those that abuse kids or animals...The article on the Shepard being abused is disgusting as with any abused animal...when I had the farm there were things that had to be done to protect my goats and fowl...I did kill coons whenever I could...they are efficient predators and one got in my chicken coop one night and killed 1/2 of them, I had to finish off a couple that were chewed up but still alive and saved the leg of one of my guinea hens with splints. .They also chewed through the roof of the old ice house and killed all the baby turkeys but left the mother alive...to them I did unspeakable things...shot one and drown several in the pond....

When I was a city girl I had to call my neighbor to take a mouse trap out of the house with a mouse in it....farming toughens you up pretty fast. It took losing my rabbits to a pack of dogs and my house warming gift of 4 banty to a coon that turned me into a vermin hater, especially coons, they are nastier than spit (as another freeper put it)

We all have our personal reasons for doing and feeling like we do...I would never pry into your reasons as you said, they are personal...

From The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48 :
 Hysteria \Hys*te"ri*a\, n. [NL.: cf. F. hyst['e]rie. See
Hysteric.] (Med.)
A nervous affection, occurring almost exclusively in women [FO: and pit bull worshipping drug addicts],
in which the emotional and reflex excitability is
exaggerated, and the will power correspondingly diminished,
so that the patient loses control over the emotions, becomes
the victim of imaginary sensations, and often falls into
paroxism or fits.
[1913 Webster]

Note: The chief symptoms are convulsive, tossing movements of
the limbs and head, uncontrollable crying and laughing,
and a choking sensation as if a ball were lodged in the
throat. The affection presents the most varied
symptoms, often simulating those of the gravest
diseases, but generally curable by mental treatment
alone. Hysteric

Pit bulls are varmints bent on predation, and heavy pills of lead are the cure.

Yep. Coons are like monkeys when getting into chicken pens and coops--very good at it. Up this way, besides coyotes, we also have to be on the lookout for bears in chicken coops. They've been known to surprise a few people going out to feed them. ...need something that's light to carry and will penetrate through about five feet of their hair, hide, flesh and bones.

Many of those places have been put out of business, I find that to be cruel to a wild animal to spend their lives in cages. Modern zoo's are much better...Year back the family took a trip to lion country safari...you drove through and the animals roamed free. Was there when it was feeding time. the truck was enclosed with a chute and dead chickens were thrown out of the chute..I have a picture of a lion trotting next to our car...signs all over the place trespassers will be eaten... I think they were closed down also a few years back, but no cages and enough space for 2 prides of lions...

These are your state laws regarding “dangerous dogs”.

http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stuslars14_102_14_2771_2778.htm

If the neighbor’s dogs fulfill any of the legal requirements, you may shoot them and be within your legal rights.

So just shut up and shoot them.
