What a great story when everybody is fawning all over the Tiger story, the real husband wins one for his sick wife. You couldn't script this one in a Disney movie when the rival who is always runner up pulls one out for his wife and mother who both are fighting cancer.
Perhaps his wife's battle with cancer puts things like golf tournaments into perpective. He certainly didn't have his usual battle with nerves.
Congratualtions Phil, you make us all proud.
Pray for Amy and Mary Mickelson
Amen to that...:o)
He was a Black Golfer in a racist sport is how he was packaged. The old McNabb white guilt sports announcer syndrome they sold to adnauseum. Doubt even Tiger liked the extremes these libs exploited the race angle.
No, he is a good golfer - with personality problems!
I am sick of this Tiger story all day long.
It sickens me that someone who stooped so low could be cheered on as if he has nothing to be ashamed of.
I heard that after he promised in Feb. he was a changed man and would cut out the swearing and throwing of clubs, that he had a fit on the course yesterday and did his nasty mouth act again. His “changed man” act didn’t last long as far as the fits. Makes me wonder about the rest of it???
I gotta admit he can be agonizing to watch...have to do a lot of face/palms...:o)
My feeling is once a cheater always a cheater...
Trivia tidbit....Scott Peterson - murderer of Lacy, and now on death row - was a school golf teammate of Phil.
Right On! All of these so called Sports Personalities surely realize that they are only the product of their “known” personalities - not just their athletic abilities.
Unfortunately, when underlying problems come to light, it does and should drop them into the bucket of humanity. Decent people - athletes or otherwise are hard to come by and when they actually surface, they are revered.
My first husband proved your statement to be true?
Some folks just don’t know how to say no.
That's the truth...and they don't get much media attention...
The irony of the Nike commercial is his father cheated on him mother too.
Congratulations Phil.
Same for my ex-wife...but I learned my lesson well...one strike you're out..:o)
Yes, a truly class act. When he was in CA a year ago, he made an impromptu golf seminar for wounded vets from the Iraq and Afghan war, in private..no media, no press.
Thanks for an insightful post.
I’d like to add that this has to have been a really bad week for the Big Sports Media. First, revoltingly caucasian Duke takes the basketball championship. Then their annointed prince of the links falls short in his big comeback.
It must really suck when you can’t write the story in advance.
My best friend just found that her breast cancer has spread through her body, this after just finishing her second round of chemo last year. It is indeed a horrible disease and I pray for anyone fighting it.
And we all now know too well what Woods was doing at that time...
I don’t respect Tiger personally.
But can you deny that he is one of the greatest golfers of all time ?
Just like Michael Jordan was one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He slept around on his wife and has issues with gambling.
Basketball without Jordan and golf without Woods would never have been the same.
Golf needs Tiger.
Congratulations to Phil and God bless his family!
