Yeah. Great idea. Set the precedent and next you get to sterilize the “mentally ill”. Then the “feeble-minded”. Then whoever else.

Eugenics continues to rear its ugly head. We didn’t kill enough of these eugenics psychos when we defeated Germany because there were/are a heck of a lot of them in the USA.

Sorry, but I agree with this 100%.
My daughter works in a level one NICU and the crack babies are so very sad. The same women keep showing up with another child needing months of hospital care and looking to a life of health problems if they even survive. Most don’t that come in real premature, and the time and emotion the staff puts in to try to sustain life is overwhelming.
These NICU people are angels

“The Shadows are darkest when the Sun is brightest.”

(Paraphrased from Glenn Beck)

This sounds like a metaphor for the existence of evil ideologies in the US. There sure are a lot of extremists in the US...

You make a good point. The sterilization project is something that was encouraged during the Eugenics craze in this country back in the early 20th century. In fact, that is how Margaret Sanger , the founder of Planned Parenthood, got started. She also believed in the sterilization of what was then called the “unfit”. ALthough it is tempting to think the world would be better off if the drug addicts were sterilized, the process would never stop with them. It would quickly spread to any social undesirable which, depending upon the era, could be anyone not in step with the prevaling governmental philosophy.

Nobody's being forced to do anything. If you are an addict, you are offered a reward of a few hundred bucks if you go to be sterilized.

Please. This programme is voluntary. And condemning something because the Nazis did something similar could be applied to many things which are actually sensible. The death penalty, imprisonment, military service, taking children camping and teaching them outdoorsmanship etc etc...

I fully support the idea of voluntarily sterilizing drug addicts and preventing them from conceiving children that will either be aborted or condemned to a life of abuse, neglect and excruciating misery... Some of which they will later go on to inflict on innocent people as a result of their dysfunctional childhood.
Call me back if they suggest making it compulsory or coercive. Until then, great idea....

The dirty little not so secret is that the US had a triving eugenics program in the US in the late 20’s and early 30’s. I have a 1930’s set of encyclopedias that expounds on the wonderful eugenic programs an how it would enhance the progress of the country and help humanities future. The first time I read it, my jaw dropped. Then I realized this all came from the progressives of the day. Things have not changed much.

BTW - What will happen when a few sterilized druggies get cleaned up and want kids? Will they sue? I am sure lawyers are already figuring out how to file lawsuits.
