The MAC hacker sticks again
Posted on 04/10/2010 3:39:03 PM PDT by Prairiegal
I am on my 3rd MAC at the office in less than 5 years. Safari stinks, Entourage not better, NEOOffice is awful, ICal doesn't talk with other MAC software. My database kept reporting damage and after rebuilding it 6 times in one day, guess what, I got a new MAC. .ODT does not open .doc or .docx files correctly or in the same format. I sat with the folks at the Apple store with a list of 30 problems and they could not tell me how do do what I use to do on my PC. They visited the office to see our set up but I think that was just "let's see what your doing" and then nothing. I am currently working on another list of problems and I'm on number 24. Check this out. http://theflashblog.com/?p=1888 Apple Slaps Developers In The Face. Another problem. .pdf's another problem. We had to load update 5 times. It taked me double and triple the time to do my work and its getting tiresome.

Ever notice in movies they always use MAC’s and every time there’s a time element involved where they have to download or close a file real fast, it doesn’t? Movie that comes to mind is Office Space where the guy wants to close a bunch of files and it’s so slow doing he gets nailed by his boss and asked to come in on the weekend ....

I use HP stuff. Same micro sucks issues other PCs have but they are good machines and reasonably priced.

We have about a dozen of them here and I’ve never had any problems like you are. What are you doing to them to make them that way?
To: Prairiegal
Give it up, Macs are not business friendly unless you do graphics design.

I see the problem - you’re not drinking enough of the Steve Jobs koolaid. A true Mac - o - phile would conclude that the tasks you’re trying to get done are either beneath you or just aren’t that important.

I have a Toshiba laptop and a Dell at work.
The salesman promised me the Toshiba would not burst into flames.
I used to use those hippie computers, but they taked too much time.

How can this possibly be? Everyone knows that Apple Mac’s and their owners/users are perfect and never fail or screw up. Besides, they’re so much hipper and cooler than regular PC’s or computers.

I dont do a lot of data base stuff, but I do a lot of PDF stuff and I’ve never had an issue.
Downloads are fast.
It doesn’t shut down that fast, but if you are trying to hide stuff from prying eyes, there are better tricks out there.
PC, Mac...use what works for you. Otherwise, who cares?
