The cat isn’t going for the face. It’s actually trying to get at the neck. The face is just a secondary target.
They do a remarkable impression of a furry buzzsaw while doing so, though.

Yeah, but sometimes they stick around even when we have no kitty treats.
It’s often forgotten, but while we’re the proud top of the food chain on this planet, the cats are a close second. If our species were a little dumber or cats had had thumbs, they could have easily been number one. They are actually better at hunting and killing prey at a one on one basis than we are.

I’ve had my 17lb cat attack me several times for the heck of it over the years. He always attacked me while Im in shorts, never pants.
Now he’s getting to be about 16 year old and Im getting concerned.
I love that cat.
