You never wear loose clothing around machinery!

Word fail me. Guess this is a real life case of the old clashing with the new.

Shades of Isadora Duncan - killed when her scarf got tangled in the rear wheel of an early convertible.

Yabut ... she had a
right to her style of clothing, and a stupid husband/thought process that demands adherance to certain rules ... no matter what.
Machinists don't wear ties for a good reason

The track will be sued for allowing her to ride with a hijab. The track will then be sued for not allowing people in the future to ride with a hijab.

OK, whoever posted earlier about Port Stephen moving closer to Darwin, you get my vote for one of the wittiest, cleverest posts I’ve ever read.

Similar to Isadora Duncan’s death. One of her famous long scarves got caught in the wheel of the car.

Not that I care... Perhaps she should get the Darwin award for wearing such clothe on a go-cart.

There was a constant battle between one of my old supervisors who insisted all staff must wear ties as per the company manual and the director of maintenace who feared our ties getting caught in the machinery we were inspecting and operating. It was easy to be yelled at by the supervisor to “get that tie on or be written up if I have to tell you again”and minutes later an irate utility man demanding “get that tie off,it is a safety violation!”
So it became customary to carry a tie in a pocket and quick put it on if the supervisor approached....

After lebenteenzillion years Postal management quietly announced that ties were prohibited on workroom floors, AND, business casual dress in all areas was acceptable.
That saved us all several thousand bucks in suits.
This came about because of the implementation of vast amounts of mechanization, automation and roboticization in postal mail processing facilities.
It's not just machinists ~ everybody who can come into contact with this equipment at any time should get rid of the loose clothes and ties.
