Upset over the incessant barking of a German Shepherd toward African Americans, Latinos and other non-Whites, a New York man stabbed a "racist" dog. As a result, the canine lost his eye and the attacker was charged in court. Consequently, in this crime, both parties appear to be victims "partially" of a difficult work environment.
58-year-old Andrew Owens and 4-year-old Jenna both worked at Valley Oil in Yonkers. Owens was a handyman and Jenna a guard dog. From the beginning, the two had a precarious relationship.
According to Jenna's owner, she has a negative to reaction to minorities. As a result, she automatically didn't like Andrew Owens. Allegedly, in the past, her distaste for him led to a dog bite and lots of aggressive barking. Apparently, Owens was able to tolerate the situation until finding out the true reason behind Jenna's behavior. Afterward, he snapped cutting her, unprovoked, with a knife.
Fortunately, Jenna did not lose her life. Yet, this story is a sad one that is causing many people to look at her owner. They question whether she was trained to hate minorities and as a consequence, acted out against them. If so, he would hold some responsibility for creating a volatile environment.
Of course, Jenna's owner denies all allegations of training his dog to be "racist". Instead, he is focusing on an injured animal that regardless of her mentality didn't deserve a vicious attack. In the end, this is probably where most interested parties will end up.
Send that dog to diversity classes.
Maybe it’s not too late to change her racist ways.

My buddy who is a K9 handler, routinely has people say his dog is racist. His reply is how can a dog that is brown, black and white be racist?
Good time to use an eye for an eye punishment.
My shepherd does not seem to differentiate (unless you count the black and white wooden cow someone has in their yard - he doesn't like that cow!)
It’s sad but you can’t defend your dog with deadly force. Dogs are considered property. Now say you came outside during the stabbing event...well...that’s different, especially if there are no living witnesses.

The mailman (oops, how unPC of me...LETTER CARRIER)...anyway, the mail man actually inadvertently trains the dog to not like him.
Day one...mailman comes to the house and the dog barks. Mail man moves on the the next house. Dog's barking/herd mentality worked. the perceived threat was chased away (accodinrg to the good doggie mind)
Day two...lather rinse repeat
Day three...lather rinse repeat
Day four and into the future...lather rinse repeat
Now the good doggie has been conditioned by the mail man's leaving that he has chased away what he perceives to be a threat. Now, that is what the mail man is...a doggie threat.
So too with anyone who turns tail when doggie barks at them.
They too will become part of the list of perceived threats, including meter readers, neighborhood kids, cats, anyone who fears doggie, and mother-n-laws, etc.
Ok, maybe not MILs...they tend to not leave. But the others, fer sure.

Actually that's not believed to be entirely true, although they are most likely red-green color blind....
Actually, I’m sure it is possible to train a dog to hate minorities (or white people, for that matter), but you would need to use willing minorities in the training, so it seems highly unlikely.

We had a laundry pickup and delivery service when we lived in Des Moines. If the dog observed a delivery, that was OK. Picking up the bag of shirts would result in a major bark-off.
My dachshunds are equal opportunity haters - until you offer them food.
There was a King of the Hill episode about Hank’s dog being racist.
My dog will bark at everyone who walks on the side walk or street in front of our house. To him it is a game and he wags his tail, my neighbor is really the individual who developed this because he plays games making the dog bark. Well one day a black teenager, around 18-19, got barked at when he walked by our house. His immediate comment was, “so your dog doesn’t like black people”
I think many Black’s believe white folks have trained their dogs to be racist.
when i deployed to Egypt. we had a bunch of small operating bases. each one had atleast 2 dogs at each site.
every last dog on those sites hated the Egyptian locals. we had to lock them up if Egyptians were on site because the dogs would attack them...
BTW, I had a jack russell terrier that HATED black people she was embarrassing. Had to hold her down to keep her from jumping out the car window when she saw a black person.
When she was on the leash she got all snarly and bristly when she saw a black person!
Now, we got her from a farm when she was 8 weeks old, so I know her dam and sire were not in the Klan.
Go figure.
