Agree with every word of your brilliant and funny review!
Thank you for posting that link to some songs written and performed by Crystal.
I just listened to part of “Hellbent”. What a liberal, naive, pathetic rant.
I guess in her world, terrorists only want to give us lollipops and big, bad Bush had to go and ruin the fun.
I have no respect for someone who obviously has no idea what the real world is like.
It is shocking considering she has a little boy. Does she not want him to be safe?
Pathetic.
I suggest everyone give it a listen. Eye opener.
She also owes George Bush and apology. And while she is at it give one to Palin too. (she uses sound clips of them in the song)
Very disappointing.

I love that one.
Thanks!
Upon inspection of last nights performances - Casey's had solid emotive. - There was something which struck me about Katie's singing. Simon's right she needs to go Country...She might make it big there! - Everyone else was MEH...including, Siobhan, who will not take my Simon's advice. I think she's done. If she doesn't understand what brought her here by now, she's not going too. And the way she dresses is starting to annoy me because she trying too hard to be a freak!
new thread, cool! Is it just me or does that picture with the judges seem phony? Ellen looks like a cardboard cutout that they just stood next to Simon.
That said, this means that there's very little shake-up in my overall rankings. I have Siobhan retaking the lead since she finally got herself back under control, but otherwise, no movement up or down:
===========
Voted off #10 (my rank: 6) Didi - Really had a tought time trying to infuse emotion into songs without them overwhelming her. A couple of weeks straight of being too controlled was her downfall, as it came across as overreheased and ingenuine. Still, there were others who deserved to go before her.
Voted off #11 (my rank: 11) Paige - Seems like a nice girl, but just not ready for this; even without the voice problems, song selection was awful.
Voted off #12 (my rank: 12) Lacey - Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
Finally! The week we have been waiting for all year. Every single contestant did well this week, even the Turbanator himself.
For all the people who have been whining about the contestants not doing hardly anything contemporary, well last night was your answer why. This is the kind of talent that is brought out when the contestants are faced with suberb music that is filled with melody, rythm and meaningful lyrics. Nary a Crotch grab, a blah blah blah or a synthesized voice to be found; and the result was nine good to excellent performances that highlighted the contestants singing voices.
It was really tough to rank the contestants this week as the top 5 on the night were all excellent, and the remianing 4 were just a slight bit behind those 5. You could honestly jumble 1 thru 5 and 6 thru 8 and you would not get an argument from me. I think we all know who was 9th, but even he was quite good this week.
1. Casey James - Jealous Guy - Took a huge risk with a very obscure Lennon song, and hit it out of the park. the acoustic blues touch was excellent, and Casey’s voice complimented that perfectly. By far his best performance of the year.
2. Crystal Bowersox - Come Together - Crystal back with her guitar and doing oh sooo smooth. Even with bronchitis she nailed this. I have liked other Crystal performances better, but this one was right up at the top.
3. Michael Lynche - Eleanor Rigby - Big Mike rocked it out with an awesome R&B take on this classic. I loved this performance, and could honestly hear this song as a single. Excellent job.
4. Siobhan Magnus - Across the Universe - Another huge risk with an obscure song, and, just like Casey, Shabonbon nailed it. This was an absolutely beautiful haunting performance that highlighted the richness and tonal quality of Siobhan’s voice.
5. Lee Dewyze - Hey Jude - Loved the bagpipes and dug the whole arrangement and performance. maybe not quite to the level of the 4 above him, but one could argue it was. Excellent job.
6. Andrew Garcia - Can’t buy me Love - Another solid performance by Andrew. He is back on top of his game the last couple weeks. I absolutely loved this, but the fact i have him 6th is a testement to the quality of the artists ahead of him. Andrew has some talent, but he is not in the top 5.
7. Katie Stevens - Let it Be - Her best performance of the season in my opinion. she was absolutely superb, her voice was beautiful, but once again she was just a step behind the ones above her. katie has a ton of talent, but she is just not ready to step up to the upper group. But, I agree 100% with Simon, this girl has an absolute pure Country voice, and that is the direction she needs to go.
8. Aaron Kelly - Long and Winding Road - Ok the world might be ending, for the second week in a row I actually liked Aaron. he did a good job on this song, but Ellen was right in calling it a “long and winding song”. Aaron did well, sounded great, but got lost in the shuffle of the amazing performances that followed him.
9. Tim the Turbanator Urban - All My Lovin’ - The man, the myth, the legend, the GENIOUS? Yes, the genious. this was sung straight to the throngs of tween texters that love Bobby sherman Jr. He cheesed it up, he hammed it up, and I am willing to bet he hit a home run with the demographic he was aiming at. As for me, this was entertaining, not great but entertaining, and in the end can we ask for more?
SHOULD GO HOME - based on the total body of work, it should be Tim. If I went solely on tonight, Tim was 9th, but believe it or not - I cannot honestly say any of them deserve to leave.
WILL GO HOME - I have no earthly idea. Tim has so many tweeny fans that he may actually be with us for a while. Based on bottom 3 appearances I would say Katie needs to worry, and possibly Andrew. But, total honesty here, everyone was so good I will predict that one of the favorites will be in the bottom 3 and this could be a huge shocker week.
THE SAVE - I will predict right now that there is a 75% chance the save will be used tonight. If it is anyone other than Tim, I think the judges will seriously consider it. The might not save Andrew and possibly Katie, but they will deliberate even over them. Any of the other six and I will flat out say THEY USE THE SAVE.
I think they're starting to like Katie more -- she gets the save, especially after this week. Andrew or Tim wouldn't get it it.
That said, I doubt Katie will need the save.
Who should go home this week, honestly, is Aaron. Maybe Tim will steal all of the tween votes and make that happen.
Me too. I didn't want to like it, but I did.
LOL!!
That and the bagpipes were odd choices.
I sort of laughed at Ellen’s crack about the bagpiper getting lost from his parade. Most people here don’t like her, but she does at least add occasionally funny lines.
I am still playing with the statistical analysis tool I made earlier this season (yeah yeah I am a geek) and so far it has been deadly accurate on the vote offs, but iffy as to actual bottom 3.
Still it predicted 3 of the 4 top 20, 3 of the 4 top 16, and hit on Lacey, Paige and Didi.
So, this weeks unlocky schmuck ANDREW GARCIA by a mile. the tool shows him with the largest drop in support (56.7% fewer votes than last week)and the lowest vote total this week which is exactly what it showed for the previous 3 vote offs. Andrew also has the added kiss of death of a large gain one week followed by a huge drop the next week.
We shall see tonight if the tool goes 4 for 4.
For those interested, I use Dial Idols raw numbers and then perform my own magic on them. not worried about busy signals as much as total votes and what type of movement the voting is showing against what the numbers show as an avarage vote total and gain/loss.
I totally agree with you about Siobahn I really liked her- not I'm just "eh" about her...
Don't really like Andrew that much
I like Tim just because he irks the judges with his staying power....and he's cute - no doubt about it!
I don't like Mike - he's got a decent voice, but I'd never be a fan
Bowersox was good last night but she's not my cup of tea for a singer....too much like Joplin - ick
Katie is amazing to me for her confidence at such a young age
Aaron my daughter just loves (teen)
Casey is pretty cute - I like him ...eye candy etc and would maybe buy his record
Lee....I love him, would buy his record if he wins/or doesnt win
I think Andrew or Mike should go tonight
her family does seem freakish
I doubt they would waste a save on:
Tim (they can't believe he's still there)
Andrew (he's not lived up to the hype)
Katie (she's too young - needs more maturing)
Big Mike (Simon doesn't like him that much, he's too showtune-ish)
Siobahn (she's too freaky - and inconsistent)
Aaron (I don't think they like him that much but he is a "possible save")
I am sure they would save Casey, Crystal, Lee
I agree 100% with that analysis. I can’t believe Tim is still there, either!
To me, Big Mike is the most interesting. He started out with real potential. I didn’t like him too much, but considered him someone who could win me over. I was really prepared for him to take the crown.
But he never developed...evolved...whatever it is that happens to these kids on that stage. He gets more annoying every week and turns in more boring performances.
Remember when Simon admonished Crystal not to think she had it in the bag? Methinks he could have done Mike the same favor-—maybe it says something that he didn’t?
Oh that’s just creepy.
Disagree slightly, but only a little:
Casey - Definately use save
Crystal - Definately
Lee - Definately
Siobhan - Definately (you may consider her freaky but that is what the judges love about her, and like her or not she is top 4 talent)
Big Mike - Likely (simon may not like him but he also will know the demographic big mike pulls in)
Aaron - Likely (Some of the shine is off of Aaron, but the judges like him)
Katie - 50/50 (the judges like her, thier critisism has been more of a parent scolding a child than real ‘you suck’panning)
Andrew - unlikely, but possible (He has gotten better the last couple weeks, but not enough to waste the save on)
Tim - No way in hell.
