That could be it - sometimes he hits a note and I’ll swear it sounds like part of it is missing! Didn’t know that was an actual technique, but your explanation makes sense.
Yes.
>>I can type about singing for now but I really miss singing.<<
As I said upthread, I am a pretty good mimic and I get a great deal of satisfaction from my karaoke exploits and they are well received. That doesn’t make me a singer, it makes me an actor LOL!
But singing is something that is soul-satisfying, whether a song-duffer like me or someone more practiced and invested in the art like you.
I hope your tooth heals soon so you can get back to making your beautiful noise.
:)
PS: We won’t forget to keep bugging you to post us up some of your singing when you are back to normal. :) :)
Looks like they put flower pedals on one big @ss mole.
American Idol has a feed at facebook (new app). Cssey was on facebook tonight. This was the first time he ever hand held a microphone on stage. He was singing for his grandmother tonight. I posted there that he was going to be fine. I posted that Blue Skies was way too slow. He was going to be an artist, not a practitioner. I didn’t post about rigging cuz I don’t want AI to get me kicked off of facebook.
Get back here, Naw-Naw :-D
It is grotesque.
Ck out what I found out about Casey at facebook. Hey, every singer I know is an actor. Some are just better actors than others.
That didn't make much sense did it? lol
I saw that — but I don’t have a Facebook account.
I liked Sinatra night, he was so cool. :) Connick was a great mentor. Of the night, Lee’s was best.
No, but neither did anything about Nancy. ;-)
Hi everyone! My sons had a spring concert at school tonight so I had to miss the show AGAIN.
Gonna watch it on DVR but it sounds like a stinker.
Here’s my 2 cents worth about voice/vibrato. I think vibrato is something that can’t be taught. You either have the ability or you don’t. If you do, you can abuse it or learn to use it in a pleasing way.
The trouble with a lot of these younger folks is they use it waaay too much along with runs and it’s serious overkill.
It doesn’t have to be used over and over again in a song. Maybe just in a place or two or not at all.
Either way, forcing it if you don’t have it naturally makes you sound like Casey. It’s absolutely awful.
I saw that too. I enjoy reading the updates from the contestants on FB this year. I think this is the first year they’ve done it.
I like Big Mike too...
Hi, Kids...sorry I missed you all tonight. Oh, my...poor Frank! Harry made me swoon and Lee was the best. I did love Crystal, too. (Don’t tell anyone but I zipped right past BM—the getup was too much.) Casey goes home tonight.
WTH was that.....the whole show, only proved that none of these contestants are in the league of Sinatra!
Pithiest statement of the night!
Well, for me, tonight was a big steaming pile of “MEH”. I love sinatra, I love Harry Connick Jr., but the performances left me feeling let down.
It was like the spotlight was on Harry and his arrangements and not on the contestants. Tonight did nothing to give me anything new on these guys, and if anything just highlighted that none of them are worthy of holding Sinatra’s house shoes (Bet ya’ll thought I was gonna say something else hehe).
Anyway, on to the rankings, not that they matter:
1. Michael Lynche - The Way You Look Tonight - Mike came the closest to capturing the Sinatra swagger and persona. I thought this was a very bluesy sweet arrangement, and MIke delivered some velvetty smooth lyrics. Not blown away by it, but it was enjoyable.
2. Crystal Bowersox - Summer Wind - I thought this was a beautifully understated performance. It was a nice sweet song, but as such lacked any real oomph. Again, just a decent enjoyable performance.
3. Lee Dewyze - That’s Life - I agonized over where to rate this. Arrangement wise I thought it was the performance of the night, but I could just not get past the plethora of sharp and flat notes that kept deflating the ballon right as it was ready to soar. I love tone Lee’s voice and his rasp, but the dude is just all over the place when he sings.
4. Casey James - Blue Skies - I liked this a lot more than the judges did, that is for sure. I thought it was a cool arrangement and loved the bluesy feel of it. But, I do agree with Kara on one thing, Casey’s annoying Vibrato was out in full force.
5. Aaron Kelly - Fly Me To The Moon - As far as Aaron performances go, I liked this one better than most. That said, this song just completely swallowed him. It wasn’t bad by any means, but it lacked that POP POP POP delivery that Sinatra gave it. Simon said it best with his Lion/Mouse analogy.
SHOULD GO HOME: AARON. The Kid is a nice kid, and has a decent voice, but he really is not better than the other remaining contestants.
WILL GO HOME: CASEY. Reality here, Aaron has the teen text vote locked up, and Crystal & Big Mike are not going anywhere. That leaves Lee and Casey fighting for the ther voters, and Lee has outperformed Casey. Add to it Casey being bottom 2 the last 2 weeks, and this one is academic.
