Explanation: Near the outskirts of the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy some 200 thousand light-years distant, lies 5 million year young star cluster NGC 602. Surrounded by natal gas and dust, NGC 602 is featured in this stunning Hubble image of the region. Fantastic ridges and swept back shapes strongly suggest that energetic radiation and shock waves from NGC 602's massive young stars have eroded the dusty material and triggered a progression of star formation moving away from the cluster's center. At the estimated distance of the Small Magellanic Cloud, the picture spans about 200 light-years, but a tantalizing assortment of background galaxies are also visible in the sharp Hubble view. The background galaxies are hundreds of millions of light-years or more beyond NGC 602.

Beautiful. One more pic for my desktop background,
That's a long, long way.......You can't convince me that there isn't life out there somewhere. I just hope I live long enough till it's discovered.
I love this picture it’s my wall paper for my desk top. When my son comes home he puts new backgrounds from the Hubble on...
Maybe Life has already been discovered! Maybe they are living amongst Us right now!I think there is a good possibility that the Toad living at the White House right now came in on a Spaceship from some distant screwedup place. That could explain why he has spent over two Million Dollars hiding the Birth Certificate and GOD only knows how much more bribing people to make his past Invisible to Us mere Humans.....:-)
Beautiful picture! Thanks.
Does anyone have more information on the “event” that will be or as been happening but will be at its “height” tomorrow, Easter Sunday - re: Mercury and Venus being close together?
Need to know what time will this “event” be best seen and where in the sky? ( I think I read to the WEST ).
Thanks in advance.
I switch these pictures from Hubble every week or so. And its amazing what Hubble has done for science. It has surpassed the expectations of everyone.
(Prolly the best 'investment' (spending) the gubmint ever made. Next to the Apollo program, IMO)
The mars rovers have been a pretty fair investment as well.
Can you see the baby’s face towards the right side of the picture? Very cool!
How do you do that?
beautiful...
I think so...I had the horsehead nebula up for a long time.
You know, my son Nate saved it for me and I think he copied it and saved it on my desktop and then went into control panel and somehow pasted it in there. I will talk to him today and ask him how it did it and get back to you.
Yeah, you're right. I forgot about those. NASA did good with our money there.

I don’t know if you saw this but here’s how to make it your wall paper.
