Thanks, yes it was. No hospital should send home a baby that age when they are running those kinds of temps, without knowing what is causing them. Thank GOD the second hospital was more thorough. She is still not out of the woods, and we won’t know about brain damage for some time to come. If the first hospital had begun treatment instead of brushing the fever off, it might not have gotten as critical.

It scares me because we have a new baby in our family. My granddaughter just had us a precious little girl, as a matter of fact she is 1 month old today. Babies can get sick and die so quickly.
My mother lost her first little girl at 2 yrs. 4 months. Of course it was way back in those days, even though she did get the doctor to come to the house that night. The doctor said she just had a little cold and would feel better in the morning and the little thing died during the night. It almost killed my mother. It was meningitis. There was so much of that back in those days. My brother and I hadn’t come along yet. I still think of the stories Mama told me about little Wynette and it still makes me sad.
Wishing the best for Haley and her Mom. Prayers rising!

Things like ear infections, and colds are ruled out easily, and these days we know that babies running high temps need to be in a hospital to be monitored and have IV’s against dehydration. She kept spiking 103-105 for nearly 24 hrs. That is dangerous. They ended up giving her children’s advil which they don’t do any more to get her temp down, as the sponge baths and Tylenol wasn’t helping.
My other sis posted to my face book her temp this afternoon finally came back to normal.
