New to Latte Vanity
3-10

Posted on 03/30/2010 5:12:40 PM PDT by Global2010

Vanity Day.

I have never been a coffer drinker. To much acid. Makes me feel shakey.

This last year I was nudged to try a Latte.

I loved it.

So I was buying one a month as an on the road cold rainy day treat.

Dutch Bros.

Well I have had 3 this week now. Too spendy and not able to get out but way to spendy

I work out of the home and do not have money or time to fuss with an espresso maker.

If I bought beans/grind/milk/coconutsyrup and a coffee maker (2-4cup max) to make coffee at home will I notice a huge diff not being a coffee/Latte coniseur.

I dont want to waste money so looking for an expensive coffee maker.

It would still seem more economical than Dutch Bros more than twice a week.

I have contemplated if this is just a fad I am going through.

So far no stomach ache and no shaky feeling with the Dutch Bros Quad Coconut Latte.

Would Coffee with flavor effect someone different in the acid/shaky mode.

I am guessing not if I keep it down to a 1-2 cup maker.

Also need easy/quick plug in and use as I dont have time or want to program/play with one more electronic device in my life. Too busy.

Any suggestion coffee or latte makers.

I have done some research on cheap espresso makers with milk steamers but seems it still to much time in the kitchen to fool around with the darn thing.

Thanks Freepers.

A latte requires steamed milk. That is what makes it delicious, as far as I am concerned.

A non fat latte, extra foam, is my beverage of choice.

So you’d need something to make your steamed milk.

Soo heating the milk on the stove top would not suffice?

I would guess simply heating the milk would not suffice.

You could try it.

But if that was all you had to do, Dutch whatever would just have hot milk dispensers for their lattes.

The steamed milk gets foamy and sort of changes textures. It also grows by about 50% when steamed enough for the latte.

Capresso. Under $100.

And a wonderful American company to do business with.

See I knew yall would come through.

So make coffee and add steamed milk plus my coconut syrup (after to the cup of java)?

And that will give me that desired texture?
I know bean choice is important too.

IOW Keep it simple.

I drink allot of cold herb tea (de caff due to acid).

I say Latte because that is what the drive through place told me to call it when ordering.

I went in McDs with a coupon for a free Latte/Coffee and asked them what was the diff between mocha/iced/latte/coffee.

Everyone in the place looked at me like I was a moron for not knowing and hurry up your holding up the line.

The other day I went into Mc Ds for a Milkshake and got the bad wierd place vibe again.

Milkshake IS THAT ALL YOU WANT, uh yeah a milkshake.

I could get into hot cocoa if it was good and I guess the steamer would give it that Good blend.

Not like instant swiss mix and hot water.

You might be skinny as a rail, but if you’re not, you might want to take a look at the calorie content in one of those flavored lattes as it’s going to be as much as a bowl of ice cream.

You can save a lot of calories by having it made with skim milk and instead of flavored syrup, have it sweetened with Splenda. But then you may not like it as much. You might also inquire about sugar free syrups.

I have to watch my weight, so only indulge in one of these occasionally because one of these equates to about a third of my daily calorie intake.

Just sayin’...

From what I can understand...water is converted to steam and is injected into milk to create the desired froth.

Boiling milk will not work.

A large skim latte is about 100 calories, maybe 125 with Splenda or sugar free syrup.

Not a bad deal.

I have never been a coffer drinker.

Well I've been drinking coffee for 40+ years; and I have no idea what a "Latte" is? Is it coffee diluted with lots of other stuff so you cannot tell that it is coffee anymore?

I quit the artificial sweetners last month and have been liqued fasting for more than diet reasons.

Since I stopped using artificial sweetners, too many diet 7ups, I dropped 10 lbs in two weeks and have stopped craving sweets.

I use certain real fruit or juice extract in my herb cold tea for sweetness and it does not effect my BG.

I drink allot of Virgen Maries to fill full.

The Latte thing could possibly be just a new temptation.

I would use skim or 2% milk in a steamer though always drink skim or 2% anyway.

Typically do not keep cakes/cookies/candy in the house so a lil cocount syrup may not be bad.

Unless it is made with corn syrup.

Heck if I know.

I was told what I order is a quad shot of espresso with steamed 2% milk and some coconut syrup...hence Latte.

Your guess is as good as mine on that whole idea.
