Make a home for the snake. Skin it. Provide the leather to Tony Llama. Wear boots. tell tales.

That’s a beautiful corn snake. Besides it and garters, what other kinds do you have? I thought I noticed a third, darker species.

Sigh. What DO people do with the brains they were born with? Use them for hockey pucks?Hey, snakes can make great pets. Of course, I much prefer our own native species.

Gave it to an exotic pet store. I was planning on keeping him until he took his first crap. My garage still doesn't smell right.

I kept the wild-caught Garter as just a temporary snake and let him go back to the thicket. I don’t have any others but I admire those Milk Snakes and Scarlet Kings for those rich reds they have. The shop has Milks all the time for $50 or $60 but never Scarlet Kings. The California King is a nice looking snake.
Years ago I went on the KingSnake.com message board for Corns and everybody gave me a hard time for sometimes feeding beef to Mary Ann (the Corn in the pic). But now she is over ten years old and healthy even if “they don’t eat cows in the wild”.

Well, she's a beautiful corn. Guess what I thought was a darker snake was merely the curve of the water dish.
All the snakes I've ever kept were caught by myself. I've never had a corn (only caught one, and it was very small); we mostly have gray rats here.

A week or so ago someone posted a picture of shoes made from those snakes in Florida....boots would be good also, but cost a fortune...

I had a garder snake living in my front flower bed for several years. LIke snakes, but something got a hold of it and the head and tail were chewed off...hope one of my dogs didn’t get it....snakes in your garden are good luck.. I saw a blue racer years back, but they are rare to find...
To: JoeProBono
This one will be needing a new home.

Many years ago I actually caught and kept a black racer as a pet. Racers are supposed to be really nasty, but this one let me pick it up the very first time without trying to get away or biting. It's been a long, long time since I've seen a racer, though.
Garter snakes also have really nasty tempers. They're related to those water snakes.
And it's been a real long time since I've seen a spread natter. It must be twenty years or more. Yes, I think seeing a spread natter again my cheer me up a little bit.

In my dictionary . . .
PETS
have to be furry
or swim as some sort of fish
or have feathers and fly as a bird.
I have a very narrow, fairly rigid, convinced, dogmatic dictionary & convictions about pets.
And I’m not amenable to persuasion nor brainwashing.
LOL.
