To Those Who Insist On Ideological Purity: Thanks for ObamaCare (Vanity)
Jim Davis

Posted on 03/23/2010 4:38:26 AM PDT by Philo1962

This is an open letter to those who refused to go out and vote for a RINO on Election Day 2008. You have just given us ObamaCare, which (if it is not stopped) will bankrupt America.

The final House vote tally was 219-211. All of the Republicans in the House of Representatives ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. In the Senate, John McCain (another RINO you refused to support in droves) is one of ObamaCare's most vigorous opponents. And all of the Republicans in the Senate ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. This confirms what I've been saying all along: that ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

If we had won just four more House races in 2008, the final vote would have been 215-215 and the bill would have failed, despite the last-minute stab in the back by Bart Stupak and eight other Blue Dog Democrats.

In 2008, the ten closest House races were decided by an average margin of only 680 votes. For example, in VA-5 Democrat Tom Perriello defeated Republican Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. by only 745 votes. This means that if 2,730 more Republican votes had been tallied in four of these districts in 2008, ObamaCare would have failed in 2010.

And if he had been elected president, John McCain never would have signed this bill.

I'm not saying that we should support RINOs in the primaries. Every effort should be made in the primaries to nominate genuine conservative candidates, with true conservative positions on the issues. But once the die is cast in the primaries, and we're stuck with a RINO nominee, we need to go out and get that RINO elected. We need to donate to his campaign, man phone banks for him, hand out yard signs and bumper stickers for him, and walk the precincts for him.

Because as we have just been reminded, in a way that's too loud and too painful to ignore, ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

I will be supporting Mark Kirk for United States Senate here in Illinois for this reason.

This is bull. Most Conservatives held their noses and voted for McCain (or Palin).

It was the RINO traitors who voted for Obama. Perhaps more importantly, it was RINO traitor pundits like David Brooks, who bought and then sold the lie that Hussein was a post-partisan, post-racial moderate, as opposed to a radical left-wing racist and Socialist.

These fools and traitors made moderates and indepedents feel comfortable voting for the evil man who is now doing his best to destroy our nation.

FReeper Joe Bell for United States Senate from Illinois

Because he's the best man, and Mark Kirk is as leftwing as any Democrat.

Wake up conservatives. This thread is a perfect example of the same old game that, by design, does nothing but club you into submission to the liberals.

Yep. I choked back my bile and voted for him and I had a feeling he was going to lose anyway. I voted for Hunter in the primary and you don't find a much wider ideological divide than that.

You don’t know anything about me. Your so called “principles” is what gets people killed.

I have no problem with strategic votes but candidates as liberal as Spectre,Snowe and Collins are worse than a democrat in that they give liberals cover in that they can call this crap bipartisan. When you have a party leadership that would pick a Dede Scarsefaver then you have lost the battle.

Everyone knows politicians in DC are corrupt...the question is, why did we give them more power? And the answer is, we didn't. They are just taking it.

Agree 100% and that’s why I held my nose in many election cycles and voted for Specter in the general (but not in the primary). The time to do battle is in the primaries. Once the slate is decided, pick the most conservative candidate on it and vote for him/her. If you refuse to vote or vote 3rd party, then you have no right to complain about what you get-period.

We can agree to disagree on this point (and MANY will disagree, for sure), but now is not the time to nitpik at each other. Now is the time to unite behind the most conservative GOP candidate who’s running in the primary in your district or state. If you stay home or vote third party, then don’t gripe about Madame Speaker continuing her reign come Nov.

“If we had won just four more House races in 2008, the final vote would have been 215-215 and the bill would have failed, despite the last-minute stab in the back by Bart Stupak and eight other Blue Dog Democrats.”

About the point above, I, m not so sure. Pelosi had Democrats in her back pocket ready to vote yes, if needed. The Stupak bloc was always going to vote yes, they just needed a big enough fig leaf, which they got. It’s not a given the vote would have failed even with 4-5 more Republicans on board. The final vote on a bill is not always what it seems, esp. when it’s close.

Here’s a list so far of Democrats in close districts and their challenger(s). Before sending money to them (esp. when there’s more than one), check with some Freepers in that state or district and get an opinion or wait until after the primary to send money or lend support. Even Stupak has two challengers so far.

Here’s what I picked up so far:

AR 2-Vic Snyder’s opponent, Tim Griffin, http://www.timgriffinforcongress.com/

CO 4- Betsy Markey’s opponent, Cory Gardner, http://corygardner.com/

FL 12-Adam Putnam’s opponent, Dennis Ross, http://electdennisross.com/

ID 1-Walter Minnich’s opponent, Vaughn Ward, http://www.vaughnward.com/

IN 8- Brad Ellsworth’s opponent, Dr. Larry Bucshon, http://www.bucshonforcongress.com/

MD 1-Frank Kratovil’s oppenent, Andy Harris, http://www.andyharris.com/
MI-1 Bart Stupak’s opponents, Daniel Benishek, http://www.benishekforcongress.net and Tom Stillings, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tom-Stillings-for-Congress/359528951597?v=info

OH-1 Steve Driehaus’ opponent, Steve, http://www.stevechabot.com/

OH-15 Mary Jo Kilroy’s opponent, Steve Stivers, http://www.stivers4congress.com/

OH-16 John Boccieri’s opponent, Jim Renacci, http://www.renacciforcongress.com/

PA 7- Joe Sestak’s opponent, Pat Meehan, http://www.andyharris.com/
PA-11 Paul Kanjorski’s opponents, Chris Paige, http://www.chrispaigeforcongress.com or Lou Barletta (Hazleton mayor), http://loubarletta.com/
Kanjorski is also facing a primary challenge from Corey O’Brien, http://www.obrien2010.com/

TN 8 - John Tanner’s opponent, Stephen Fincher, http://stephenfincher.org/

OH 18-Zack Space’s opponents, Bob Gibbs, http://www.bobgibbsforcongress.com/, Jeanette Moll, http://www.jeanettemoll.com/home.htm, Fred Dailey, http://www.freddaileyforcongress.com/, Patrick Carlisle, Beau Bromberg

“If you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than live as slaves.”

Yeah, and it would've been FAR better to have it named RomneyCare or McCainCare. A RINO majority would've passed the same thing, and the Dems would've added perks to it over 6-10 years to give us the exact same thing anyway. Sorry, I ain't the GOP's bee-yotch, and I ain't giving my vote away for anti-limited-government folk just because they put an "R" after their name.

It was the RINO traitors who voted for Obama.

Glenn Beck has done a couple of shows with black republicans. Its amazing how many of them said they voted for Obama because it was "historic". By my quick estimate 80% of those black republicans voted for Obama.

The astounding ignorance of political realities displayed in this sentence alone discredits your entire screed.

Republicans controlled the House Ways and Means committee for 12 years, which should have been more than enough time to legislate the IRS out of existence.  Perhaps you could apportion some of the blame to them.
