To Those Who Insist On Ideological Purity: Thanks for ObamaCare (Vanity)
Jim Davis

Posted on 03/23/2010 4:38:26 AM PDT by Philo1962

This is an open letter to those who refused to go out and vote for a RINO on Election Day 2008. You have just given us ObamaCare, which (if it is not stopped) will bankrupt America.

The final House vote tally was 219-211. All of the Republicans in the House of Representatives ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. In the Senate, John McCain (another RINO you refused to support in droves) is one of ObamaCare's most vigorous opponents. And all of the Republicans in the Senate ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. This confirms what I've been saying all along: that ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

If we had won just four more House races in 2008, the final vote would have been 215-215 and the bill would have failed, despite the last-minute stab in the back by Bart Stupak and eight other Blue Dog Democrats.

In 2008, the ten closest House races were decided by an average margin of only 680 votes. For example, in VA-5 Democrat Tom Perriello defeated Republican Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. by only 745 votes. This means that if 2,730 more Republican votes had been tallied in four of these districts in 2008, ObamaCare would have failed in 2010.

And if he had been elected president, John McCain never would have signed this bill.

I'm not saying that we should support RINOs in the primaries. Every effort should be made in the primaries to nominate genuine conservative candidates, with true conservative positions on the issues. But once the die is cast in the primaries, and we're stuck with a RINO nominee, we need to go out and get that RINO elected. We need to donate to his campaign, man phone banks for him, hand out yard signs and bumper stickers for him, and walk the precincts for him.

Because as we have just been reminded, in a way that's too loud and too painful to ignore, ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.

I will be supporting Mark Kirk for United States Senate here in Illinois for this reason.

By the time you get a government that is pure enough for you, it will be too late. Starting with elections being a thing of the past.

Another thing the author left out is McCain’s unwavering desire for Amnesty, the next big wave of corruption and socialism about to crash on our shores.

So McCain is against the HC Bill? Will he stand so strong against illegal immigration, too? Doubt it. He needs their votes as much as Democrats in Congress and Obama needs their votes.

You stand for no more than slow socialism over fast. What possible difference is there between some one who is taking your freedom if he has an R after his name. Would you be excited over a republican party full of Arlen Spectres? How many Dede Scarsefarvas would be enough.

While I do not entirely disagree with your post, it’s going to get interesting around here when amnesty comes up again.

Imagine McCain arm in arm with Obama, pushing amnesty. And then the posts:

You idiot purists, if you would have only voted for McCain we wouldn’t be getting amnesty now!!!

At least you know what a Democrat will do. You have no idea what a RINO or a Republican will do. ie:

Bush Amnesty, Bush Bailouts, Medicare Prescription Drugs, Billions for Africa, deficit spending.

Keep supporting Republicans, just because they are Republicans.lol.

Yeah, but I’m not going to read what you wrote. I’m just going to repeat the Mit talking points. Vote for the R, it’s better that way. \sarc

“P.S. I support Bill Bennett’s tenant: vote for the most electible conservative Republican running. Votes that “send a message” are BS and counterproductive. (Too bad the Republican leadership doesn’t understand that real conservatives CAN be elected if supported from the beginning...e.g. NY-23.)”

DITTO.

The key word is electible. While I’m sure that I would personally find Duncan Hunter, for example, a great guy - he certainly had the qualifications, he never polled higher than 5% IIRC.

There was about a 100% chance that McCain would have been 2% better than Obama. We were grasping at straws. Go whine somewhere else.

Voting for RINOs would eventually bring us to the same pass. Liberals are running America over the cliff. RINOs are just walking.

Better to chug the hemlock than to sip it slowly.

To hell with the politics of accommodation and appeasement. If we don’t draw an ideological line in the sand now, when will we? And if it means victory for our enemies, better we — and the country — get a clear picture of who those enemies are than we continue to disguise them as our friends.

NEVER vote RINO!

I see that more discipline is in order. No more anti-American trade! No more feminism! No more support for public education! No more socialism! No more bandwagons of rhetoric without voting records for proof! No more big government! No more special interests! No-vote! No sale! Slowdown! Watch your revenues fade!

Politicians and special interests don’t decide. We do.

I get beat up for being a “purist” all the time but it always comes from some clown who demands that all vote for the letter (R) and that’s all you need to know.

I am pretty strict about voting conservative but I try to balance the political realities. I knew Scott Brown was a Rino but saw the value in taking the seat and he’s about as good as can be expected for Mass.

Here in Michigan I’ll be voting for Pete Hoekstra for governor, not because he’s perfect but because he has the best chance of winning and he’s miles to the right of John McCain and about ten million miles to the right of the Granholm clan.

You, and those like you, those with no discernible principles, are why the country is going to hell in a handbasket. And the letter by your name means nothing.

The angels came down from heaven and gathered all the politicians in America together and said, If we can find twelve moral politicians, we will spare DC from a great horror. Harry Reid asked the Angels to define honest and would they bend the curve, he was immediately turned into a steaming pillar of sh&t. John McCain said he was a war hero, he should be exempt. He was turned into an illegal immigrant and sent to Compton.

The Angels said fine, we will accept 10 (angels like even numbers, golden ratio is to confounding) Nancy Pelosi said she was a good Catholic who prays to Saint Joseph and her support of abortions was strictly business, the angels without hesitation turned her into a pool of toxic botox sludge. Exasperated the angels said they would spare DC if there were just two honest politicians in the entire country. Bart Stupak stood up and said "I will handle this," "I have twelve pro-life democrats and we should qualify as moral men," as soon as the angels stopped laughing they turned Bart and his twelve disciples into rectal probes to spend eternity where they could do the most good. Barney Frank complained that he wanted to be an anal probe too, the angels turned him into a tampoon instead, angels have a sense of humor too. When the angels realized there is no such thing as a moral politician in America, they sent DC to hell. Where it is reported Satan has filed a suit with the Almighty complaining the angels decision was a violation of the cosmic separation of powers, seems there is room in hell for only one devil!

Moral of the story, there are no moral men in politics, you get what you pay for. Soro’s knew a deal when he saw one! Politicians require money to run, once they start accepting money they are corrupted, if they win they are rewarded with power and become absolutely corrupted. You want a prefectly conservative, moral politician, raise $30 million and buy one.

McCain was a poor candidate he refused to fight. He is fighting now against a true conservative. Republicans lost because they said one thing and did another, losing the American people’s trust. When one compromises with tyranny you get tyranny. We can look back and say if we did this or that we would be better off. Fact is Republicans lost the trust of the American people. Good News though: The American people are forgiving and quite willing to give conservative principled leadership another chance. When Glenn Beck has 1 million folks on the Mall in August the Dems will be terrified. Am I wrong to be very encouraged here?
