This is an open letter to those who refused to go out and vote for a RINO on Election Day 2008. You have just given us ObamaCare, which (if it is not stopped) will bankrupt America.
The final House vote tally was 219-211. All of the Republicans in the House of Representatives ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. In the Senate, John McCain (another RINO you refused to support in droves) is one of ObamaCare's most vigorous opponents. And all of the Republicans in the Senate ― all of them, every last one of them, including all of the RINOs ― voted against this bill. This confirms what I've been saying all along: that ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.
If we had won just four more House races in 2008, the final vote would have been 215-215 and the bill would have failed, despite the last-minute stab in the back by Bart Stupak and eight other Blue Dog Democrats.
In 2008, the ten closest House races were decided by an average margin of only 680 votes. For example, in VA-5 Democrat Tom Perriello defeated Republican Rep. Virgil H. Goode Jr. by only 745 votes. This means that if 2,730 more Republican votes had been tallied in four of these districts in 2008, ObamaCare would have failed in 2010.
And if he had been elected president, John McCain never would have signed this bill.
I'm not saying that we should support RINOs in the primaries. Every effort should be made in the primaries to nominate genuine conservative candidates, with true conservative positions on the issues. But once the die is cast in the primaries, and we're stuck with a RINO nominee, we need to go out and get that RINO elected. We need to donate to his campaign, man phone banks for him, hand out yard signs and bumper stickers for him, and walk the precincts for him.
Because as we have just been reminded, in a way that's too loud and too painful to ignore, ANY Republican is better than ANY Democrat.
I will be supporting Mark Kirk for United States Senate here in Illinois for this reason.
The truth here is that both the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan and ObamaCare are all part of the same well-orchestrated strategy that is being carried out on behalf of major U.S. corporations. First, the GOP removes a huge liability from their balance sheets by moving seniors from company-paid private insurance plans to a government-run program. Then, the Democrats go about reducing the benefits for those seniors by imposing Medicare cuts that the GOP never would have been permitted to get away with.
Our leaders no longer pay attention to Dr. Keyes. He silenced his voice in the debates when he ranted against the time given to other debaters, wasting time he could have spent answering questions. He further embarrassed us all by his actions in ‘08, by courting other Parties and then forming his own, and by the things done and said in his name (including the false testimony against me and Texas Alliance for Life).
This is not about you and Dr. Keyes. It is about fighting where we can, when we can, because we must. Without shear numbers in Congress, we cannot keep the microphones and lights on in the House, if Nancy Pelosi says turn ‘em off!

piss off.
We need the change of the Supreme Court. Since the Courts’ decisions after Washington took the troops to fight the Whiskey Rebellion, the Supreme Court has been the final word for law in the US.
It is ignoring reality to ignore the facts that the Dred Scot decision set slavery law for 10 years and that R v. W set abortion law.
We have to face what is, the conditions in which we live. If anyone moves to literally stop an abortion, that person will likely end up in jail. Legal attempts cost money and time. We spend.
Our Nation has been in a fragile state of detente since more people realize what abortion is and what R v W has done. The only thing that keeps many of us out of jail is the hope that we can do more out here than in there.
Ah, so you don't believe in the separation of powers, co-equal branches of government, or that all officers of government, in all branches and at all levels, have an equal duty to uphold their oath to defend the Constitution.
Typical Republican.
Your position is exactly why the old pro-life movement is moribund.
Stuff it RINO.
As I said, you know nothing about me.
Well, you’ve obviously thought little about what ails this country.
If you had, you would understand that the first and foremost problem is the departure of those in politics from America’s core principles.
And you’re here ridiculing those who won’t violate their conscience on behalf of your political brand.
Like I said, I know everything I need to know about you and your fellow travelers from this thread. You’ve revealed your nature.
McCain is up for reelection and has been playing conservative for the last 6 months....he’s another liberal.
I have had it with the short-sighted purists.
McCain voted against it.
You are preaching to the choir here. I’m not sure what you read into my original post, but you missed the boat. I don’t disagree with anything you say. I just said that voters that stayed home gave us Obama.
Have a good day.
LOL... you think McCain wouldn't be screwing us just as bad?

This is exactly the strategy that got us where we are today.
No, I said what I believe: we must deal with reality. Federal law enforcement officers, courts and prisons act as though the Supreme Court changed the law with R v W.
Nevertheless, no one in power will hear Dr. Keyes. At the Republican candidate debates he wasted his time ranting about not getting enough time! He went on to alienate the Republicans, the Constitution Party and me.
Yeah, I do. He is one of ObamaCare's loudest opponents.
This is exactly the strategy that got us where we are today.
No, the strategy that got us where we are today included a lot of people like you, who refused to vote Republican if the Republican wasn't ideologically pure. Every Republican in Congress voted against ObamaCare. Eevry last one of them including every RINO.
Yeah, me too. I'm calling them on it, starting right now. The time to fight for ideological purity is in the primaries. After that, all Republicans need to stand together.
I don’t disagree with you, nor do the majority of Freepers. Virtually none of us can stand McCain, but most of us voted for him, since the alternative was, foreseeably, the destruction of our country.
But you have to blame the Republican leadership as well as the Paulbots and third party purists. It was the RNC that stacked the deck by frontloading the primary process with liberal states and crossover states, and thus produced McCain as the candidate. Then McCain ran a lousy campaign and virtually handed it to Obama.
After McCain chose Sarah, Jim Thompson came out and backed him. And most of us held our noses and put what we knew about McCain to one side, supported him, and voted for him.
But let’s face it. It’s not just the fringe element who vote third party. It’s the tens of millions of ordinary voters who stay home because the Republican nominees just turn them off. For instance, McCain repeatedly insulted Evangelicals over the past 10 or 20 years. So what did they expect?
George Bush got overwhelming support from social conservatives in the 2004 election, and then he turned around and moved left. How’d that work out?
It’s not the 3% third party voters we need to worry about, it’s the stupid, stupid party operatives who would rather lose than see the good candidates whom they cannot milk and control get put forward.
New tagline.
Only because he's in a re-election race, and because he thinks it helps him retain some relevance in the national party. McCain has no underlying principles of any kind, left or right, and if he thought openly embracing Communism was in his best interests, he'd do that instead. If you recall, McCain has always been against "amnesty", LOL...
No, the strategy that got us where we are today included a lot of people like you, who refused to vote Republican if the Republican wasn't ideologically pure.
I don't require purity, but I do require some sense that the person feels loyalty to the U.S. Constitution and its limitations on government power. I allowed myself to be fooled into voting for Bush in 2000 and 2004. I have since repented. Never again.
Every Republican in Congress voted against ObamaCare. Eevry last one of them including every RINO.
That's nice. Voting against ObamaCare is a necessary-but-not-sufficient criterion for being acceptable.
Have fun voting for Specter, Jeffords, Scozzafava, etc.
I have to disagree, unless there is data to back it up? There simply aren’t enough voters who “refuse to vote Rino” to be the determining factor in who won and who lost those seats. As to the Presidency, I believe the same holds true. Obama won because he got all the leftists, most of the middle, and a few of the right to vote for him, not because of those who withheld their vote for McCain.
If anything, it’s a miracle (Palin factor) that McCain got as many votes as he did.
