Civil Disobedience - Burn the Census Form?
History | Today | Me

Posted on 03/21/2010 9:11:09 PM PDT by Grizzled Bear

There's been a lot of talk on FR about "Civil Disobedience." Back when I was a kid, filthy disease ridden hippies burned their draft cards to protest against the Viet Nam War.

Should we respond to Obamacare by burning our census forms in a public act of civil disobedience?

Does anyone have any better idea?

It’s only a $100 fine for refusing to answer it. Better then the fine for fraudulent answers.

Thats a dumb idea. If most conservatives dont send in their census form (name and 3 people only of course) then the conservative districts will lose out.

The idea is for the liberal districts to lose out...

It’s a good start,, loook on the TV now. They are openly laughing at us. Soon,, she will be on her private airliner, drinking expensive liquor as she flies over America, laughing down at us. Bit@ch.

All depends... If you live in a solid rat district..., reduce the count. If you live in a solid rep district, inflate the count!

If you live in a red state in a red district then over count the people in your household to help adjust out the illegal immigrants. It’s only fair.

I am taking the American flag down in front of our building tomorrow. I cannot fly this flag because I am NOT a communist. It will rest respectfully in a drawer until such time as we liberate our country form the communists... THAT is my civil disobedience. Oh, if only blacks and Mexicans fill out the census form, you will ensure hell on earth. Think South Africa and Boerr...

Its not a bad idea, print about a million copies or have 50 million print a thousand each and publicly burn them as an effigy.

All across America.

The census is constitutional. Respond, but use your conscience as a guide concerning how to respond.

Continue to let the dems know the electorate is not happy with them. I will be making phone calls after the Easter recess. Maybe we can continue the flood of calls....

This information is useful for those who believe the questions are intrusive and none of the government’s business. For the Constitutionally required enumeration, the government officials need to know the number of individuals living in your home not the gender, race, etc.
Highlighted areas are what I consider the most useful details.
Cheryl

221. Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers
• (a) Whoever, being over eighteen years of age, refuses or willfully neglects, when requested by the Secretary, or by any other authorized officer or employee of the Department of Commerce or bureau or agency thereof acting under the instructions of the Secretary or authorized officer, to answer, to the best of his knowledge, any of the questions on any schedule submitted to him in connection with any census or survey provided for by subchapters I, II, IV, and V of chapter 5 of this title, applying to himself or to the family to which he belongs or is related, or to the farm or farms of which he or his family is the occupant, shall be fined not more than $100.
• (b) Whoever, when answering questions described in subsection (a) of this section, and under the conditions or circumstances described in such subsection, willfully gives any answer that is false, shall be fined not more than $500.
• (c) Notwithstanding any other provision of this title, no person shall be compelled to disclose information relative to his religious beliefs or to membership in a religious body.
Sec. 222. Giving suggestions or information with intent to cause inaccurate enumeration of population

I’m encouraging my fellow Californians - except for those outside the fishook - to lose their census forms...the less representation Mexifornia has, the better for the rest of you.

Dogs are people too right? I live in probably the most conservative county in the country (Montgomery County, TX) so it would be good if we had 6 living here rather than 4.
