Hmmmmm.
Bushmills and almost frozen whipped cream for Irish coffee.
Laphroaig for that ultimate smokey-peaty experience (my personal favorite.
Bowmore (sherry cask aged) for a somewhat smoother, sweeter taste.
In some NYC bars, asking for Bushmill’s on St Patty’s day will not go well. It’s a Northern Ireland whiskey...Jameson’s is the one.
# 1 By a landslide Bushmills Single Malt Madeira Cask Aged 21 year old (If it's not old enough to date me, it's too young to drink.)
What, no homemade poteen?
Yes, I learned about that from a former boss. Apparently the division is as deep in New York and Boston as it is back in Ireland.
Hard to believe that only three distilleries are currently operating on Erin's Isle.
Forgot to mention Bunnahabhain 18 Year old single malt.
Don’t have it in my cabinet, but it’s superb. Hard to find. A kinder, gentler Laphroaig. We called it “bunny hoppin’” ‘cause enough of it will make you frisky.
“Just messin. I really can’t drink the stuff though. Now Guinness is a whole different story........”
Black Bush is my favorite - from before it was available here in the US. I lived in Ireland ‘78-’81 and had to bring it back with me on all trips. Smooth, has the color and hint of the sherry from the casks it is aged in. Best way is to drink it neat, the way the Irish do.
As for the Guinness, that to is great stuff. Again, as the Irish drink it...ambient temperature. Guinness must be brewed in Dublin to be good - forget the London stuff. Stuff from the keg, of course is far better than bottled stuff, though I like bottled Guinness too.
Today is a day for chasin’ the Black Bush with Guiness!
And this evening, an Irish coffee, made with Black Bush, of course. When I lived there the local folks liked my Irish coffee better than their own :)
I agree. Redbreast is the best!!
If you really DRINK Irish Whiskey, Paddy’s can’t be beat. And I mean drink it...not compare “bouquets”... UGH!
Slainte!

“...asking for Bushmills on St Pattys day will not go well. Its a Northern Ireland whiskey...+
Ah, but it goes back to before things were divided - Bushmill’s is the oldest licensed distillery in the world. And I do not plan to be in NYC on this date anytime soon. I have been in Dublin on St Patty’s day, though in Ireland generally it is a religious day, and special services are held in honor of the patron saint.
Occifer, I’m not as think as you drunk I am, hickup!!!
Ninety percent I’ll spend on good times, women and Irish Whiskey. The other ten percent I’ll probably waste.

Dang, they used to have a live webcam. :-/
Kilbagan...great stuff!
In Ireland, admittedly different from NYC or Boston, it was not a problem, and I have been in both IRA pubs and prod pubs. Both sides over there like Americans. Then I looked Irish (red hair, fair skin, freckles) and was often engaged in conversation for that reason. I could order Black Bush w/o a problem anywhere I might be, north or south.
uh oh, I sense we might soon have some frunk dreepers. Freep responsibly! Please, don’t drink and freep!

;o)
Liquor in my state (WA) is state regulated, so the selection is pathetic. I don’t recognize any of these names.
What age?
