ORLANDO--There are new doubts that SeaWorld will let the whale that killed a trainer perform again. These concerns come to light as the theme park works with Dawn Brancheau's family to seal surveillance video of the incident and tries to cope with outside pressures demanding the whales be released.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, flew a banner over the park Tuesday with the message: "Let the whales and dolphins out of prison."

Sure, there’s a vacant lot a block behind the park. Release it, free to go, best of luck. The ocean’s about 35 miles west.

YEAH, be released into the wild then die.
(which would suit me either way)

Ship the whale to the Bonneville dam. Killer’s eat seals don’t they? It’s a win-win.

“””PETA flies banner over SeaWorld demanding whale release””” ....while normal people demand the whale be put down.
PETA once again putting the lives of animal before humans.

YEAH, be released into the wild then die. Actually, I read somewhere that this particular whale was born in the wild, unlike the other killer whales at Sea World.
I think I actually agree with PETA on this one.

OK that was close. I had advocated releasing the whale that kept killing people (Calling it a Killer Whale would be redundant). When I saw the headline I was afraid that I might actually agree with PETA. And as any good Freeper knows when you start agreeing with PETA you should immediately have myself lobotomized. But they want to release all the whales and dolphins (apparently the sea lions are just SOL), so I'm still not quite as crazy as PETA.

I’m curious...why would you choose the animal being put down rather than being released?

I’m with PETA..as long as they are the ones in the tank with them...alone...in seal costumes.

So if this whale took a Peta member’s arm or leg off would they say “Thank you sir, may I have another?”
?

Me too. I’m not a fan of Zoo’s or Sea World...no matter how “cushy” it looks to us. The whale should be released.
I like to compare it to tying a dog up on a chain...24/7. Very cruel.
How’s that whale supposed to get his freak on in a little tank???

A prison where they’re being hand- fed, away from predators, whalers, etc.? Because it worked out soo well for the whale from Free Willy...

if a dog kills people, what do we do? Release it?
If someone gets in the fence with a pitbull and the pitbull kills that person... do we blame the person for getting in the fence and in the first place?
Most whales run away from people usually preferring flight instead of fight. This whale, however, will be drawn to people, as in swimmers and divers because its been around people its whole life.
I am no marine biologist, mind you, I am just saying what I think makes sense.

OK here is an idea. Don't put on costumes that make you look like a big penguin, the whale's natural food. That's like going into a lion cage dressed like a lame zebra.
