Introducing the next Governor & Lt. Governor of Illinois
Various Internet Blogs | March 8, 2010 | BillyBoy

Posted on 03/08/2010 9:24:13 PM PST by BillyBoy

Hope my fellow freepers don't mind the vaniety, but Monday was the official campaign kickoff for our newly minted CONSERVATIVE Republican ticket in Illinois. Bill Brady's election night victory on Feb. 2nd had been in limbo for a month until the closest competitor in the race (a favorite of the GOP establishment) conceded a few days ago.

Senator Bill Brady and his running mate, Jason Plummer, started off the general election on campaign on Monday, March 8, 2010, with an eight-city flyaround the state to thank his supporters and launch the newly merged Brady/Plummer campaign team. The toured ended Monday night with a free 7 p.m. Victory Rally in Bill Brady's hometown of Bloomington in central Illinois.

Looks like they're off to a great start! Bill & Jason make an awesome team! I hope all freepers will join in whole heartedily supporting the GOP nominees this fall! It's the first truly conservative ticket in 40 years and the DemocRats running this state into the ground have had nothing but trouble since the primary. It's about time we had a real Republican in the Governor's mansion after years of Jim Thompson/George Ryan types, and a Brady victory in November will be a wakeup call to all those media (and those here on FR who promote RINOs), that you don't "need" to be Democrat-lite to "win" in states that voted for Obama.

Let's here it for Bill & Jason!

Ladies and Gentlemen... our newly minted GOP ticket...

Presenting the next GOVERNOR and LT. GOVERNOR of the great state of Illinois:

Brady/Plummer 2010

" A CLEAN BREAK FROM THE CHICAGO-MACHINE STYLE POLITICS OF THE PAST"

BILL BRADY
* Illinois State Senator, 2002-Present
* Director, Bloomington-Normal Home Builders Association. He and his brothers own and run one of the largest privately held home construction and real estate development companies in Illinois, as well as property management, mortgage, real estate marketing and hospitality
* He fought for and passed legislation to protect children from sexual predators. He was a primary sponsor of legislation to end pay-to-play politics in Illinois and sponsor of a Constitutional amendment that would give Illinois citizens the power to recall public officials.
* He has sponsored reforms of workers’ compensation and medical malpractice laws, and he championed reforms in the state’s insurance and financial industries that became a national model.
*Honored by such organizations as the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Civil Justice League, and the Illinois Farm Bureau for his achievements in the General Assembly.
* Senator Brady and Nancy, his wife of 27 years, have three children - Katie, William and Duncan.
* Community involvement through serving on the St. Joseph Hospital Community Board, Westminster Retirement Village Board, and Catholic Charities Diocese of Peoria, United Way Board Campaign Chairman, Illinois Wesleyan Association Board, Heartland Community College Foundation Board, Diocese of Peoria Lay Board, Susan G. Komen Board, Illinois State University Business College Advisory Board, Central Catholic High School Foundation Board, and YMCA Board.

JASON PLUMMER
* Vice President for Corporate Development of R.P. Lumber and subsidiary companies, a family business responsible for creating and maintaining over 1,000 meaningful jobs in Illinois.
* Currently serves as intelligence officer, U.S. Navy Reserves.
* Served under U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald and in Washington, DC with the Heritage Foundation — the conservative public policy institute.
* Committed Republican precinct committeeman and former Madison County Republican Chairman.
* Dedicated youth sports coach at First Baptist Church of Maryville.
* Proud graduate of the University of Illinois — earning a degree in Finance from the College of Business. He was also the Vice President of the Student Body.
* Led the student opposition to the public funding of speeches by former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers, earning him support and accolades from conservative leaders throughout America.
* Serves on the board of the Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association as well as several civic and corporate boards.

(A reliable CONSERVATIVE Republican from downstate winning a governor's seat held by RINO and RAT combiners for the last 40+ years send a HELL of a better "message" to Obama than a RINO winning Peter Fitzgerald's senate seat that Obama briefly borrowed for 143 days)

I really want to believe in Brady. Like I said I met him and he seemed genunie (but so did Kirk) so I can’t rely on my judgement. Will I vote for him over Quinn? Most definently, but like you ALL said. We MUST hold his feet to the fire on illegas. No green card, go home!

I have to say one thing I actually prefer NOT to do is meet with a lot of prospective candidates. Too many have perfected the art of glad-handing, which unfortunately you almost have to be at functions. There’s almost no way you can be bluntly honest in discussing your positions with respect to lightning-rod issues in such a format. I prefer to play closer scrutiny to their record, because in the end, that’s really all that matters.

We’ll never know for 100% how Brady will be as Governor until after he takes the oath. Of course, we’ve had countless people let us down that we thought would be good guys. I look at the two newly-minted Governors of NJ and VA. I expected Christie in NJ to be just another bidness-as-usual RINO cretin hailing from the equivalent of the NJ Combine, but he has actually been a very pleasant surprise in the swiftness of his tackling the disastrous budget situation left by the Democrats. McDonnell in VA, conversely, has been more a disappointment. He apparently has not similarly been pushing for cuts, and his overriding Atty Gen Cuccinelli on a gay lobby issue looks like outright pandering to the left.

One reason I support Brady is because if Quinn is reelected, more than likely he’ll sign off on redistricting that will eviscerate the GOP to permanent minority status, and at that, perhaps down to holding at or below 1/3rd of the legislature and Congress. If that happens, whatever corruption currently going on now will explode beyond all comprehension (and worse, will expand the Combine, since the “R” faction will be even more beholden to begging for crumbs and favors - IL will become like the corrupt city-states of the east). I expect, too, we’ll see districts galore shaped like tentacles extending outward from Chicagoland, tipped just enough to maximize the number of Dem districts with narrow victories, and packing Republicans into a small amount of seats where they win hypermajorities (pretty much what has been done in TN for decades by the Dems, and about to be UN-done in 2012).

That whole McDonnell thing was Washington Compost disinfo. I wouldn’t worry about it. The rest of your post I agree with.

“That whole McDonnell thing was Washington Compost disinfo.”

The gay thing? What’s the real story?

I really don’t think Brady is squishy on illegals. The sources on that appear to blow it out of proportion.

Brady & Plummer form a great ticket for Illinois! The media will try to lynch them but Quinn is a zero and I think the race will be like New Jersey Christie-Corzine matchup.

I have to say one thing I actually prefer NOT to do is meet with a lot of prospective candidates. Too many have perfected the art of glad-handing, which unfortunately you almost have to be at functions.

I am of the opposite mind - especially with 'newer' politicians, I want to be able to look 'em in the eye. Talked to Pat Ballantine for a minute during the NC GOP Gov primary back in 2004 and realized there was something 'off' about this supposed conservative rising star. Couldn't look me in the eye, etc. Well, turns out he was just another lawyer fraud who tried to buy the Gov office from the teachers' union and got body-slammed by Mike "Going go jail as soon as Speaker Black is out" Easley.

If Democrats control Illinois’ redistricting and we lose one congressional seat, which seat will they try to eliminate? I think that, since Manzullo is the most conservative IL congressman, they’ll try to get rid of him, by giving parts of his district to Reps. Bean, Foster, and Hare.

They’ll try to eliminate more than a few, no doubt, just expanding a number of GOP seats into Chicago to make the seats marginally Dem. Auh2o wrote something about what they might try to cook up for IL awhile ago, but I can’t find the old post.

That thread we talked about IL redistricting on must have been pulled. A couple threads with feuding about Mark Kirk were.

Fixed that for you Phil. ;D

I didn't cross out Hare because he's not viewed as in being in serious danger but I wish his opponent Bobby Schilling luck. According to his website he can win. The race was recently profiled in the Weekly Standard.

I know Phil Collins made a similar post talking about Manzullo before. It does not appear in a list of Phil’s posts any longer. Google doesn’t have a hit to that thread.

That is one thread that was pulled. The thread in question was a few days after that IIRC.

I don’t get that “pool” thing either. I guess it was because of the acrimony.

To repost my comments on the state message boards about Brady vs. Quinn compared to Kirk vs. Alexi:

That primary was rigged from the start. The “party leaders” made sure to “clear the field” of any big name challengers to Mark Kirk and twisted arms to get every major GOP organization to endorse the socialist. As for conservatives splitting the vote, I voted (and knocked on doors) for Pat Hughes, since he was the “highest polling” conservative alternative to Mark Kirk. I regretted it the next day when he only got 19% of the vote. I wish I had simply voted for the best candidate on the ballot, Judge Don Lowery.
Given the results of the last 3 or 4 election cycles, I think the self-proclaimed “conservative leaders” in this state should be rethinking their campaign strategies.

The last time conservatives were united around a sole primary candidate was Peter Fitzgerald in 1998 and Pat O’Malley in 2002. But now many of the candidates our “conservative leaders” recruit into these races and then demand all conservatives “get behind” are inept, flawed candidates who stand almost no chance of winning a general election —Dave McSweeney, John Cox, Patrick Hughes, etc. Maybe if they had a track record of running ANY “winners” people would be more willing to go with their advice. Hughes is a good man his willingness to spend tons of his own money to expose socialist Mark Kirk is admirable, but Hughes was in over his head and unprepared for a Senate race. Having the money to put a statewide organization in place is worthless if the candidate himself can’t appear credible. Mark Kirk’s people took delight in ridiculing Pat Hughes’ amateur performance and his candidacy was DOA from day one.

As for Kirk vs. Giannoulias in the general election, the bottom line is they are both liberal Democrats. At no time during Mark Kirk’s congressional career has he agreed with me on “60%” of the important issues before Congress. No, I’m not going to insist Mark Kirk identical to Giannoulias on the issues – Alexi is the more liberal of the two. But it’s a question of someone who agrees with me 35% of the time or 5% of the time, not 60%vs. 0% of the time.

So isn’t 35% better than 5%? On paper, yes. In reality, no. Giannoulias will have little clout in Washington and even less respect, and be a very ineffective Senator. Everyone knows he’s a crooked scumbag. If Obama’s basketball buddy endorses Obama’s latest socialist scheme, it’s not going to carry any weight or make any headlines. Given his blatant corruption, Giannoulias is likely to be indicted and forced from office early in his term, and if that occurred, Bill Brady would appoint a Republican replacement.

On the other hand, the liberal media LOVES Mark Kirk and Kirk is a very slick, polished wolf in sheep’s clothing. The media will milk the fact a “thoughtful, common-sense, Midwestern Republican that is respected on both sides of the aisle” endorsed Obama’s latest socialist scheme, and people from outside Illinois not familiar with Kirk will buy the B.S. that this proves Obama’s plan is “moderate” and “bipartisan”. Kirk considers himself a “leader” of the RINOs and will use his influence to get squishy Republicans and “moderate Democrats” to support his pro-socialist agenda. Freepers scream about Lindsey Graham, but he’s Jesse Helms compares to comrade Mark Kirk and his media buddies telling us pro-partial birth abortion is a “socially moderate” view. Kirk will be in the position to do enormous damage over the next six years and he will work hard to move to the GOP caucus to the left and get them to cave the RATs agenda. Once he’s up for re-election as an incumbent with zillions of dollars and Washington on his side, it will virtually impossible to dislodge him in the primary.

California under Ahnuld now is a great example why the “Half a loaf is better than none” theory is flawed. “Fiscal conservative” Ahnuld has driven that state into the ground and now the voters will blame all the failed bureaucratic statism on “Republican rule” and punish the GOP

There is one upside to the primary results though – the general election numbers now are once again thoroughly debunked the media’s talking points (parroted by some gullible freepers) that RINOs are “more electable” in states that voted for Obama. Bill Brady’s not perfect and sucks on a handful of issues, but he’s still the most conservative GOP nominee we’ve had for Governor in 40 years and he’s beating Pat Quinn by double-digit margins now. The media is doing their best to repeat Pat Quinn’s talking points and scream about what a scary social conservative Bill Brady is but he’s still ahead, especially among those “suburban women” that the media claims all love abortion on demand and gay marriage. Meanwhile, the “electable” Mark Kirk is locked in a tight battle with the most corrupt RAT on the ballot, and isn’t even ahead within the margin of error. Gee, I guess people just aren’t buying Mark Kirk’s “suburban agenda” kool-aid. Oh well.

It will be interesting to see the numbers in November.

Rumors buzzing on the internet that the RATs will pick Sheila Simon, a Carbondale City Council member, and a daughter of the late former U.S. Senator Paul Simon, to fill the Lt. Governor nominee vacancy.

A quick glance at her campaign video and she does seem like the perfect RAT (feminazi, marxist, politician's kid, etc.)

Meanwhile, “unelectable extreme right-wing” Senator Bill Brady ahead of Quinn by 13 points in latest poll. ;-)

The way things are going, I don’t think Ms. Simon will be able to help Quinn. Brady has run a good campaign so far and the current is going his way.

It’s ironic that the anti-Chicago Machine backlash that seems to be going on is hurting Pat Quinn, a longtime enemy of the Machine.
