Introducing the next Governor & Lt. Governor of Illinois
Various Internet Blogs | March 8, 2010 | BillyBoy

Posted on 03/08/2010 9:24:13 PM PST by BillyBoy

Hope my fellow freepers don't mind the vaniety, but Monday was the official campaign kickoff for our newly minted CONSERVATIVE Republican ticket in Illinois. Bill Brady's election night victory on Feb. 2nd had been in limbo for a month until the closest competitor in the race (a favorite of the GOP establishment) conceded a few days ago.

Senator Bill Brady and his running mate, Jason Plummer, started off the general election on campaign on Monday, March 8, 2010, with an eight-city flyaround the state to thank his supporters and launch the newly merged Brady/Plummer campaign team. The toured ended Monday night with a free 7 p.m. Victory Rally in Bill Brady's hometown of Bloomington in central Illinois.

Looks like they're off to a great start! Bill & Jason make an awesome team! I hope all freepers will join in whole heartedily supporting the GOP nominees this fall! It's the first truly conservative ticket in 40 years and the DemocRats running this state into the ground have had nothing but trouble since the primary. It's about time we had a real Republican in the Governor's mansion after years of Jim Thompson/George Ryan types, and a Brady victory in November will be a wakeup call to all those media (and those here on FR who promote RINOs), that you don't "need" to be Democrat-lite to "win" in states that voted for Obama.

Let's here it for Bill & Jason!

Ladies and Gentlemen... our newly minted GOP ticket...

Presenting the next GOVERNOR and LT. GOVERNOR of the great state of Illinois:

Brady/Plummer 2010

" A CLEAN BREAK FROM THE CHICAGO-MACHINE STYLE POLITICS OF THE PAST"

BILL BRADY
* Illinois State Senator, 2002-Present
* Director, Bloomington-Normal Home Builders Association. He and his brothers own and run one of the largest privately held home construction and real estate development companies in Illinois, as well as property management, mortgage, real estate marketing and hospitality
* He fought for and passed legislation to protect children from sexual predators. He was a primary sponsor of legislation to end pay-to-play politics in Illinois and sponsor of a Constitutional amendment that would give Illinois citizens the power to recall public officials.
* He has sponsored reforms of workers’ compensation and medical malpractice laws, and he championed reforms in the state’s insurance and financial industries that became a national model.
*Honored by such organizations as the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Civil Justice League, and the Illinois Farm Bureau for his achievements in the General Assembly.
* Senator Brady and Nancy, his wife of 27 years, have three children - Katie, William and Duncan.
* Community involvement through serving on the St. Joseph Hospital Community Board, Westminster Retirement Village Board, and Catholic Charities Diocese of Peoria, United Way Board Campaign Chairman, Illinois Wesleyan Association Board, Heartland Community College Foundation Board, Diocese of Peoria Lay Board, Susan G. Komen Board, Illinois State University Business College Advisory Board, Central Catholic High School Foundation Board, and YMCA Board.

JASON PLUMMER
* Vice President for Corporate Development of R.P. Lumber and subsidiary companies, a family business responsible for creating and maintaining over 1,000 meaningful jobs in Illinois.
* Currently serves as intelligence officer, U.S. Navy Reserves.
* Served under U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald and in Washington, DC with the Heritage Foundation — the conservative public policy institute.
* Committed Republican precinct committeeman and former Madison County Republican Chairman.
* Dedicated youth sports coach at First Baptist Church of Maryville.
* Proud graduate of the University of Illinois — earning a degree in Finance from the College of Business. He was also the Vice President of the Student Body.
* Led the student opposition to the public funding of speeches by former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers, earning him support and accolades from conservative leaders throughout America.
* Serves on the board of the Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association as well as several civic and corporate boards.

(A reliable CONSERVATIVE Republican from downstate winning a governor's seat held by RINO and RAT combiners for the last 40+ years send a HELL of a better "message" to Obama than a RINO winning Peter Fitzgerald's senate seat that Obama briefly borrowed for 143 days)

I hope so. They look like good guys. I am not sure how they can fight the thugs in Chicago. I hope they can.

>> I am not sure how they can fight the thugs in Chicago. I hope they can. <<

My main concern now is making sure they get a foothold in the Chicago region, specifically the Cook County suburbs. During the primary, Brady did great in the county-by-country totals across the state, but in the six-county north eastern portion of the state (where 75% of Illinois' population is), he fell far behind. His numbers were much worse than they were in 2006 when he came in third behind Oberweis and Topinka. This time around, Brady got 1,800 votes out of 34,000 Republican votes cast in the city. And in Cook County overall, 90%+ percent of the Republican vote went to his five opponents. He got 5.19% countywide in Cook (of course there were some exceptions -- in my pct. where yours truly is pct. captain, he got over 16% ;-))

That's why he had a razor thin finish in the overall statewide totals vs. a lopsided landslide in the county-by-county wins.

Plummer provides some great assets to balance the ticket (Catholic/Protestant, Middle Aged/20-Somthing, Married/Single, Experienced Legislator/Fresh Face, Civilian Work/Navy Vet, etc.), but regional interests is not one of them. Plummer's also a downstater, and from even further south in rural Edwardsville.

I'm hearing Brady's best bet is a media blitz in the Chicago area early on the campaign to establish name recognition and gain a foothold in the area. We've established a "Chicagoland for Brady" facebook page to start networking with other conservative Republicans in the area.

Edwardsville is hardly rural ... it's a St. Louis suburb.

Plummer is based on where he’s from almost certainly a Cardinals fan. That’s another balance he brings to the ticket. ;)

“of course there were some exceptions — in my pct. where yours truly is pct. captain, he got over 16% ;-)”

Ha! In my precinct he got a meaty 50%! 2 votes out of 4. :d

Our "wonderful" governor that Mayor Washington loved so much. < /sarc > said that Bill Brady represents the "fringe right wing". In my books that makes Bill Brady my new hero!

Now aslong as someone can keep the black panthers and ACORN idle I think we will finally have a new governor, one that hasn't or isn't going to jail since Jim Ryan! YAY!

I don't know if the promote RINO thing was directed at me. But I want you to know that I supported Brady when he ran against the hag Judy Baar Topinka back 4 years ago. I actually got the chance to meet him on my birthday in Naperville after a GOP debate at North Central College, (my school :) I worked my ass off trying to get him elected. Unfortunately the hag won and lost to Blago.

AS far as Kirk is concerned Chicagolady and Philcollins raised a point that Mark Kirk went down to Mexico and told people how to get into the USA and suck us dry. Now if that is true I will vote for a donkey over him.

Many of us have our Number 1 issues. Fieldmarshal (the guy who hates me) his number one issue is abortion. Well my number one issue is illegal aliens. The left say they all come here to work. Well if that is true then why do we have so many rapes, murders, robberies by the protected class of illegal aliens????

If Mark Kirk is pro-illegal, and I know Chicagolady is an honest person and wouldn't make stuff up. Then I will once again vote third party. And if this is all true then I was shammed by the IL GOP. I will NOT vote for someone who wants to destroy this country by flooding us with illegals.

Now on another thread Philcollins and Chicagolady said that Brady supported a bill allowing illegals to get free education here and that Lauzen was the only Senator in the entire state to oppose it. Does anyone have more info on that? Because we need to make it clear as sunshine to Bill Brady that we do not support illegal immigration

When McShame and Graham were trying to shove amnesty down our throats, I followed Michael Savage's advice and on every donation letter, I mailed it back (on their dime) with "Do not support amnesty or we will deport you from office", suddenly shamnesty was thrown out the door.

So to Billy and JR if this is true about Kirk and going down to Mexico to bring in illegals. I want to personally apologize to both of you.

After Turbin Durbin, Obama and now Burris (ranked number 1 liberal in the entire senate [makes Boxer look like Goldwater]) I was ready for anything over the bullcrap we've had in this state. But if Kirk is a panderer for illegals he will NEVER get my vote.

Illegal aliens will ruin conservatism forever if they aren't stopped now. You can write that in stone.

I don’t know whom I’ll support, for the U.S. Senate. I’ll decide in Oct. If I think that the race will be close, I’ll vote for Kirk, since I don’t want to help split the anti-Alexi vote, helping Alexi win with about 49%. If I think that the race won’t be close, I’ll vote for the candidate who usually agrees with me. Eric Wallace told me that he might run, as an independent. If so, he’ll need to get at least 25,000 signatures, between March 23 & June 21.

A third party candidate has no chance in this state. The only winner here is La Raza.

The thing about Mark Kirk is I'd be content to ignore the little backstabbing weasel until we have a conservative on the ballot against him. (Kirk LOVES any sort of attention and probably enjoys seeing conservatives seethe at him because he use it to show Democrats how "independent" he is of the GOP).

The problem is Kirk fans keep disrupting conservative websites to sell the "vote Kirk" kool-aid, spreading lies that he's a "fiscal conservative" and "moderate" on social issues. Those lies have to be debunked before any more conservatives vote for him under false pretenses. Dengar, you kept touting this guy over and over again long after you said it would be your "last post" on the thread and long after many us told you that you were wasting your time because we wouldn't support Kirk under ANY circumstances. I don't see why Kirk's fan club continues to try and sell him on a conservative website to a hostile crowd. Kirk himself gloats about how "moderates" are the key to "winning" so let him go after them and try to win without us.

As for Kirk's record on illegals, he scored a 100% rating from LaRaza on more than one occasion and has voted for amnesty in the past. He also voted against requiring hospitals to report illegal aliens they treat. Kirk is the dope that said the solution to illegal immigration was Congress shipping free condoms to Mexico. Like many liberals, he'll tell you he voted in favor of the border wall -- except he didn't vote to fund it so it never got built. Kirk will talk out of both sides on immigration and tell people what they want to hear. His overall record is mediocre and shows he panders to illegals.

Like Phil, I have also heard people say he went to the Mexican border and advised illegals on how to sneak across. I have little doubt Kirk would do something sleazy like that, he's known for selling out to the highest bidder even if means risking national security. But even though Kirk is a RINO, he's not stupid and I doubt he made those remarks when there was a reporter or camera present... probably a closed door meeting by invite only, but it leaked out. But I'm guessing there's not a paper trail.

The bottom line is I'd like to stay positive and focus on Brady-Plummer, but since every Illinois 2010 election thread ends up with a "vote 4 Kirk!!" cheerleader I have no choice but to remind people what the abortion-loving, gun-grabbing socialist actually stands for.

These numbers probably explain why the liberal media is in alarm overload trying to constantly portray Bill Brady as an evil puppy-mill promoting “homophobic”:

Women and independents favor Brady over Quinn

Rasmussen Reports today that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady has a ten point lead over Governor Pat Quinn, but there's some very interesting sidelights in the 47 to 37 poll ... Women and independents like Brady:

The new survey finds Brady leading by 17 points among women but just three points among men. Voters not affiliated with either party favor Brady 59% to 18%

And Brady's unfavorables are half of Quinn's ...

Brady is viewed very favorably by 17% of Illinois voters, while only 11% view the Republican very unfavorably. Nineteen percent (19%) have no opinion of him.

Just 12% in Illinois view their governor very favorably, while 24% view Quinn very unfavorably. Only five percent (5%) have no opinion of Quinn.

Looks the media scare tactics aren't helping Quinn. If Brady/Plummer can stay on message and get a decent showing in the Chicago area, he should win. My guess is “unelectable extreme right-winger” Bill Brady does better than Mark Kirk in the fall.

My number one issue is illegals. Ask almost anyone who knows me. And if illegals is your #1 concern, you cannot support Mark Kirk at all. He is the La Raza candidate and makes McCain look like Tancredo.

The voting records on illegal immigration in the general assembly for Bill Brady an the most Liberal Democrat you can find, Cullerton and Emil Jones are EXACTLY the same.

This is the position I am taking. During this past primary all the candidates saw the people of Illinois are angry because of Illegal immigration.

They could not get away from the questions. Bill Brady, to my Shock said he was against illegal immigration, He chimed in with all the others.

We now have to hold his feet to the fire and get some solid promises from him. I am willing to support Brady because I will be darned if I will help Pat Quinn get 50 percent more tax from my pocket.

Brady record on illegals has some weak spots, that's for sure, and we need to hold his feet to the fire to make sure he keeps his campaign promises. However, the “Brady is a clone of Cullerton and Emil Jones on illegals” seems to be started by some some angry blogger who determined they are “clones” from a mere three cherry-picked
votes out of the dozens of immigration-related bills he's voted on over the years. Yes, he was on the wrong side of these three bills:

http://wideawakes.us/2009/12/what-does-bill-brady%E2%80%99s-voting-record-on-illegal-immigration-look-like/

But what about the other 90% of immigration related legislation? Brady's been on the right side of plenty of other pieces of legislation. For example, he co-sponsored the legislation to ban the Illinois Housing Development Authority from giving loans to illegals. See here:

http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/BillStatus.asp?GA=96&DocTypeID=SB&DocNum=224&GAID=9&SessionID=51&LegID=27690

That puts him to the right of — for example — Mel Martinez — who supporting giving loans to illegals while secretary of HUD and then claimed to be “against” illegals when he ran for the U.S. Senate.

It's hard to get an overall list of immigration related votes at the state level. From what I hear he gets B ratings from illegal immigration groups. That's hardly a clone of Emil Jones. I don't excuse his sucky votes though, and he needs to improve on this issue. I find it absolutely disgusting that he'd vote in favor of in-state tuition for illegal aliens, but apparently Lauzenwas the lone voice of sanity who voted NO on that awful bill. Why did the rest of the Illinois Senate vote “yes”, including plenty of otherwise solid conservatives? That's what we should be asking ourselves.

About two weeks ago, I emailed Sen. Brady, and I suggested that IL Republicans run together, similarly to the Contract with America. I said that they should promise that, if Illinois elects Brady and republican majorities of both houses of the legislature, they would pass a set of 13 bills, including: repealing the law that allows illegal aliens to attend state universities and pay in-state tuition, cutting all tax rates and fees to the 2002 levels, term limits for all elected officials, and the ability to recall any elected official. Brady didn’t respond.

Well if ya told me that he went to the fricking border to help illegals come in here I would have been on your side a long time ago!!! So I would like to say you are 100% right. And I was 100% wrong!

I lived in Naperville for 10 years and Aurora was the town next door. It probably has the largest illegal population in this state. We have murders, rapes, robberies, muggings you name it, all from the people who "come here to work".

If Kirk did this then he doesn't have my support.

I will not support illegal panderers. Also I want more info about Brady and the bill on illegals and education. Illegal is illegal! They have no business being here let alone get a gold plated education. Especially when none of them speak English.

So Bobby what do we do now?
