The comedian is attached to provide the voice of the fastest mouse in all Mexico for a politically correct live-action/CG hybrid feature set up at New Line Cinema."We wanted to make sure that it was not the Speedy of the 1950s -- the racist Speedy," said the comedian's wife Ann Lopez, who will serve alongside him as a producer. "Speedy's going to be a misunderstood boy who comes from a family that works in a very meticulous setting, and he's a little too fast for what they do. He makes a mess of that. So he has to go out in the world to find what he's good at."
That path becomes clearer once Speedy befriends a gun-shy race-car driver.

that's too bad... i loved Speedy Gonzalez... can't stand George Lopez... in addition, it's ridiculous that he doesn't even know how to use the word, "racist." Speedy Gonzalez was not a racist... while the writers were racial in their writings, i don't know that they were racists...
it's hard not to be racial... i think everybody is to different degrees...
I’d guess that the new Speedy suffers harsh treatment at the hands of, say, Sheriff Arpaio and his kind.
(AZ Maricopa County 2008: Illegal aliens down 30%. Total felonies down 18.5%. Thx Sheriff Arpaio!)
I have to say, Speedy has been doing a bang-up job.
Maybe he can be a coyote smuggling immigrants, or a member of the Mexican Mafia.
“the racist Speedy”
Everything is racist to these idiots.
It’s their default position and, usually, their only position.
Time warner should have named thier High Speed internet Speedy Gonzales instead of Road Runner for its San Antonio and Brownsville Markets
Now that wasn’t very PC was it?
So, Mr. “I wann give a shout out to La Raza” will make sure the new Speedy isn’t racist. Sure.
Upon calling Sarah Palin a ‘bitch’ on his show last week, I decided to steer clear of anything this sorry POS ever does. The only smile he’ll ever bring to my face is when I have the lovely opportunity to read his obituary, which I hope will be sooner rather than later.
Speedy just wanted stolen largesse and Sylvester was “bad” for wanting to protect his owners home. Sounds like 2010 not 1950s !
Lopez is a pro-=Obama piece of ***t. You should not pimp his movies here.
Ay, Pancho! Ay, Cisco!
I know Bill Dana wasn't Mexican, but how far is George Lopez from Jose Jimenez, really? Maybe George Lopez is an offensive racial stereotype himself.
A while back there was an abortive attempt to take the popular WB Looney Tunes characters and horribly mutate them into futuristic action heroes. To say it was not well received is an understatement.

In fact, it was completely rejected by the audience. So they briefly tried to tone it down, and that was just as bad, but in a different way.
In giving it the only memorial it deserved, someone made a particularly foul and offensive flash animation, liberally peppered with obscenities. So much so that I won’t even give you a link for it. If you truly want to see how much people despised it, Google:

I mean, people really hated it. There is no love, here.
Yes — aimed at the young children mostly (like tweety bird/etc.) — they need reassurance that the little guy sometimes wins.
Foghorn Leghorn/Barnyard Dog is aimed at the older set; sometimes Foghorn wins and other times Barnyard Dog wins.
I suppose they think Foghorn was racist too — being patterned after an old school southern politician (Senator Claghorn on the old Fred Allen radio show, as I understand).
He will be the 120-pound "Frito Amigo" and will spend most of the commercial guiding you through their low-sodium, trans-fat-free nutrition label.
