AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- The daughter of a man who crashed his small plane into an Internal Revenue Service building called her father a hero for his anti-government views but said his actions, which killed a tax service employee, were "inappropriate."
Joe Stack's adult daughter, Samantha Bell, spoke to ABC's "Good Morning America" from her home in Norway. Asked during a phone interview broadcast Monday if she considered her father a hero, she said: "Yes. Because now maybe people will listen."
Authorities say Stack, 53, targeted the IRS office building in Austin last week, killing employee Vernon Hunter and himself, after posting a ranting manifesto against the agency and the government......

One must always consider the source that one sticks a microphone in front of!!!!!
The ability of the government to squeeze revenue from citizens and to ruin lives is staggering. But no one cares. Well, the ones who do care, are just Nuts, so you can just ignore them.
At some point, the nuts will band together and water the tree of Liberty. Then they won't be nuts. Then they will ne heroes and patriots.
There were at least three run ins with the IRS. He made the first issue. Once he got on their bad side, you could argue that with the presented facts, the other issues came from the presumed guilty attitude of the IRS. Still, killing people over it and destroying property are both excessive responses.
The war time service quote was from the son of the IRS employee who was killed. He called his father a hero to contrast the meaning of the word with the statements of Stack’s daughter.
Damn. Remedial reading class for me. Thanks for the correction...
She probably doesn’t even know that Rahm, Timmmy Geithner and various others in the Bammy admin are TAX CHEATERS!!!!!
This guy is a terrorist. Not a hero.
According to Cincy conservative talk-show host Mike McConnell, Stack regarded paying income taxes as optional. There’s a dentist in my hometown of La Crosse, Wisconsin (also an HS ex-classmate) who has been thrown in prison several times for refusing to pay his income taxes. He quoted passages from the Income Tax Act or whatever it’s called, in court supposedly “proving” that people like him, dentists and other self-employed people, didn’t have to pay income taxes. He was found guilty and thrown in prison anyway. The term “optional” means the government doesn’t look at your gross income and tell you what to pay, you make out your own taxes. But paying the taxes you owe is definitely not optional!
The IRS agent who was killed had a son quoted in the article that called his dad a hero for serving in Vietnam.
The daughter of Stack, the man who flew the airplane lives in Norway where they interviewed her over the telephone said her dad’s actions were wrong/inappropriate.
I read somewhere that Stack saw his children from his first wife once a year in Norway.
First, the only ones who seem to understand this case at all are meadsjn, Dead Corpse, and ClearCase_guy, who gets it exactly right. As for the rest, especially:
[caver] “Oh, so his IRS problems were of his own making.” Nobody’s IRS problems are of their own making. You idiots would accuse the woman killed by her rapist as, “a problem of her own making” because she resisted.
[trisham] “His actions resulted in the death of a human being. Its sad that she and her father do not understand how very wrong this is. Imho, there is something emotionally/mentally unhealthy there.” You mean like Thomas Jefferson:
“And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.”
Here’s my answer to every misrepresentation being promoted about this tragic suicide:

Hank
Stupid woman is as bat sh*t crazy as her old man.
I hope she is on the no fly list.
“Nobodys IRS problems are of their own making. You idiots would accuse the woman killed by her rapist as, a problem of her own making because she resisted.”
I was responding to another poster that stated this looneytoon’s original run-in with the IRS was due to him and friends setting up a “church” to avoid paying taxes. Is that not true?
What's more, she willfully ignores that his violent attack was intended to motivate MORE angry people to do likewise.
"maybe people will listen"
To what message?
"I think too many people lay around and wait for things to happen. But if nobody comes out and speaks up on behalf of injustice, then nothing will ever be accomplished," Samantha Bell, Joseph Stack's daughter from his first marriage, told "Good Morning America" in a phone interview that aired Monday morning.
"I have many cases of people I know that are suffering in the hands of the government and people literally dying because they are not getting the help they need," she said.
The 38-year-old mother of three stopped short, however, of endorsing her father's last actions. The suicide plane attack was "inappropriate" and "wrong."
Bell lives in Norway, "Good Morning America" reported, because she lost her job while pregnant, and Medicaid "would not take care of her."
ABCDisney News Corp.
So the government leech moves to a country that will take care of her. Couldn’t be more leftist is she tried. Seems the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Exactly right. And if he was so angry about the IRS/tax system, he should have renounced his citizenship.
Leni
Bell, who lives in Norway and criticized the American system as "very faulty," said that she hopes "everything" will change in light of her father's attack.
Stack also lashed out at his Austin-based accountant Bill Ross in the anti-IRS screed. In a statement, Ross said Stack hired him for tax help in 2008 but the pilot had failed to give him all his financial information, resulting in an IRS audit.
Ross said when Stack ignored the audit and his advice, he ended the business relationship and had not been in touch with him since October
