Where will we find another Amazing Grace if promotions to flag ranks are barred for women?

I was wondering, that few militaries (like the United States) have women officers at flag rank (O-7 through to O-10).
In order to limit the number of women in the military, even in the commissioned officer ranks, I would suggest a capping, or 'glass ceiling' for officer servicewomen to O-6 (colonel or navy captain).
Do you think imposing a 'glass ceiling' on servicewomen is 'sexist'? Is it 'unpatriotic'?
Why would you want to limit anyone’s ability to go as far as their talents take them?

I didn't have all that much contact with women in the military, but my mom was one of those incompetent female O's, and growing up she had a couple BBQs for the women in her service groups every summer. It's been 40 years, but I still remember some of the personal histories, and deeply regret I didn't have the sense to write them down. I've seen lots of goofy threads on FR, but this proposition takes the cake.
Barring a major surge in enlistments of male medical personel, poeple may die with it too. Females in combat roles is a different issue.
Your Mom was one sharp cookie, obviously. I learned long ago that the Army really DOES move on it’s stomach, LOL!
When I was in charge of my ‘men,’ I made sure they were well fed, had hot water to shave with (no matter where we were) and I kept a footlocker full of ‘off limits’ treats that they weren’t ‘supposed ‘to have, but they got anyway at the end of a long, hard day.
Those guys would’ve gone to hell and back for me, if I had asked them to. I’m sure your Mom’s people felt the same way about her. ;)
Leading by example really isn’t that hard. If your people see you’re willing to do the hard work too, and/or that they can DEPEND upon you, you’ve got it made. If you tell them the ‘why’ behind what they’re doing, ‘X needs to happen TODAY, so Y can happen TOMORROW’, people get it.
I stated no personal position-I was simply posing the options...
Personally, I would not prefer our women in harm’s way, but that is the way it is.
My daughter is an Airman with several deployments (90 day types, per the USAF) under her belt. She is a tough professional and I support her.

That horse is so far out the barn door that you can’t even see it any longer. IOW’s the situation is not reversible.
I consider the very idea of capping military ranks for women at 0-6 to be an insulting disservice to the many women who have served honorably and well at flag rank.
you mean a Politically Correct computer tech who was never that sharp about computers compared to those around her?
tokenism has no place in a meritocracy military.
