Debra Medina, Glen Beck and the Northwoods Truthers
The Futue of Freedom Foundation ^ | February 12, 2010 | Jacob G. Hornberger

Posted on 02/19/2010 6:42:37 AM PST by Robert Drobot

In an obvious ambush of Texas Republican gubernatorial candidate Debra Medina, Fox News commentator Glen Beck told Medina in a radio interview that he had received emails from listeners saying that she was a 9/11 truther, that is, a person who believes that the U.S. government was behind the 9/11 attacks.

Medina failed to specifically deny the charge, indicated that she didn’t have an opinion on the matter, stated that some good questions had been raised about the issue, and said that the American people had not seen all the evidence. Medina later issued a statement stating that she has never been involved in the 9/11 truth movement and affirming her conviction that the U.S. government was not behind the 9/11 attacks.

After the interview was over, Beck and his on-air cohorts began yucking it up, scratching off any prospects for Medina, who has recently soared from 4 percent in the polls to 24 percent, to win the race. “Wow!” Beck exclaimed, “The fastest way back to four percent. I think I can write her off the list.”

Beck’s mindset was precisely the type of mindset that I described in my September 17, 2009, article “Operation Northwoods and the 9/11 Truthers.” That article addressed the mindset of Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer regarding the 9/11 truthers, a mindset that is clearly the same as Beck’s.

She did the Texas Two Step all around a straight forward answer

So if you admit she did not actually answer the question, then how do you come to the conclusion that she is a truther? Logic would dictate that you can't but it seems kneejerk reactions prevailed in this case.

She has clarified since that time that she is not a truther, but there are legitimate questions about 9/11 that should be answered. IMHO, she is correct, there are still legitimate questions about 9/11 that were not answered by the 9/11 Commission. Even the 9/11 Commission complained about lies and obstructions.

What about Able Danger? Why were the FAA tapes destroyed? Why did the 9/11 Commission's "full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks" contains no mention of strong warnings of impending terrorist attacks prior to 9/11 presented to the U.S. by Italy (March), Germany (June), Cayman Islands (June), India (July), Argentina (July), Afghanistan (late-July), Russia (Summer), Jordan (late-Summer), UK (July and August), Israel (mid-August), Morocco (August), France (late-August), Egypt (July and early-September), several of which specifically warned of suicide airplane attacks? Why was our nation so utterly unprepared for an attack on our own soil? Why was no one at any level of the government held responsible for the many failings leading up to the attacks?

We are not talking about LIHOP or MIHOP questions that are pushed by truthers. These questions about 9/11 are not about some grand conspiracy, but more about holding the folks that were responsible for our safety accountable and not letting them lie and obstruct justice simply to cover their own incompetance.

Even Beck himself questioned 9/11, the proof is on video:

Glenn Beck, Sibel Edmonds, Luke Rudowski & the Jersey Girls Question 9/11

In case you want to claim his comments were taken out of context, here is the complete segment from September of 2009:

Glenn Beck 20090903 Part 4/5

Geez...that either makes Beck a hypocrite or he had alternative motives. Which is it? Don't get me wrong, I love Beck, follow his show religiously, believe in the basic principles he stands for, and commend him for opening up the eyes of the average American citizen to what is happening to our country, but I was seriously disappointed in the way he has handled this. The left wing media then piled on and people fell for it.

Early voting is now ongoing and in 10 days we’ll know the political outcome of Medina’s governor run.

Right...now that Beck and others have ruined any chance for her with their incessant ranting about this issue. Personally, I still plan to vote for her. The truther BS doesn't have a damn thing to do with Texas politics and as Governor she has no influence over any policy concerning Federal investigations, so what is the problem? My only two other choices are that con man Perry or the RINO Hutchison, who I refuse to vote for.

I come to know conclusions. Did I post any conclusions other than she did the Texas Two Step around an answer?

Glenn Beck can be annoying, but he called this one right.

Debra Medina isn't a conservative; she's a Libertarian. Although she hasn't come out and said she's a truther, she didn't deny it, either. And many of her worshipful RonPaulCult followers are truthers, so she didn't want to alientate them.

We don't need RonPaul Moonbattiness in Texas's top position.

my reply to the individual demanding proof.

Whom hennie is too chicken ______ to ping. It is also well known hennie typically never backs up any assertion.

That's your opinion.

My opinion is that Glenn Beck is an utter k00k and also a RINO, the two are by no means mutually exclusive.

However, the fact is that Glenn Beck truly BORES me, so this is my last post here. BYE BYE

Her only claim to fame before running for gov was suing the Texas Republican Party over some minor procedural issues to try to block electors from being seated at the State convention because Ron Paul lost. She loves to play games like this.

And bedpans.

I hear she's pretty good with bedpans.

IMHO, your comments fell under the category "well if she didn't outright deny it then it must be true". In fact, you posted almost that exact same thing on an earlier thread.."If she wasn't or didn't believe the truther line all she had to do was disavow it with her answer." Geez deport, you are a long-time-high-profile-high-volume-posting Freeper, did you think I would not remember your earlier comments on this issue?

In addition, you have clearly stated your intentions before with "With a little luck we'll be through with Ms. Medina come Mar. 2. Vote early, vote often...........". That makes your protest feigning innocence a little disengenuous doesn't it?

Yep still stand by THE assessement that with a little luck we’ll be through with Medina come Mar. 2. The fact is she didn’t give a straight forward answer and you can spin that till the cows come home an it won’t change the answer she gave.

I'm not spinning anything. She did not admit to being a truther in her statement to Glenn nor did she say she supported truthers. In fact, when asked about it afterward, she clearly stated she was not a truther. What she did say was that there were some legitimate questions about 9/11 left unanswered and that everyone has the right to question the Government.

I also agree with that premise, and would even add that there was an orchestrated effort on the part of certain entities in the Government to lie and obstruct the investigation to cover up their own incompetence as has been publicly admitted by the 911 investigators, but that does not make me a truther by any stretch of the imagination.

Oh, and thanks for finally owning up to your agenda to undermine her candidacy. I am disappointed that you were not forthright about things from the get-go before you get called on it.

LOL.... Is she a birther or not? She’s been all over the ball park with her answers. I do not support Medina and hope that she is done like burnt toast come Mar. 2. Can I be more plain than that for you. Conclusions, lol, Medina needs to learn to spit forth an answer without waltzing around Texas. I think she is short on conclusions.....

Like I said, you should have said that from the start instead of the disengenuous answer you gave about "I came to no conclusions". And no, she is not a "birther" either, but that wasn't the topic we were discussing, it was "truthers"...please try to keep up ; )
