QUANTICO, Va. – Retired Admiral and former U.S. Sen. Jeremiah Denton had some tough words in the mess hall of the National Museum of the Marine Corps, packed with fellow servicemen, including some who spent time with him as a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton.

In an emotional speech last night about his newly updated classic work, "When Hell Was in Session," Denton said he feared the imminent death of the United States of America due to immorality, lack of patriotism and lack of appreciation for the unique form of government bestowed by the country's founders.

Yes, we're always on the road to hell. You know you've arrived at the gates of hell when nobody heeds the call to hit the brakes by becoming moral and patriotic.

Well it sure is easy to think that. Each new generation has to deal with issues like morality and patriotism in their own unique way. Hopefully it is a cyclical social phenomenon which will self correct before it is irreversable.

Nope. Pretty sure it was safer. Even without mandatory bicycle helmets.

Even without mandatory bicycle helmets.

Yeah, how did we ever survive climbing ropes to the ceiling in the gym, dodge ball, playground equipment built over cement, BB guns, slingshots, bows and arrows with rubber tips, steel tipped darts, back yard "tag" football, etc, etc. It was a war zone back then by today's standards! lol.

Dunno how we survived. But we survived didn’t we? We even survived lawn darts (I had a set of those...) and pocket knives at school. And had a great time, too.

Remember the cool toy guns we used to have? I had a cap-firing Thompson SMG. I’d give a lot to have another... (I can’t afford the ammo for a real one, much less the expense and the firearms license...)

Today, I probably couldn’t even survive school without getting expelled for doodling guns and battles or delivering politically incorrect research products, or forgetting I was carrying my pocket knife.

There are times when I’d really like to clear the deck in the education “system.”

I think it will be righted too. As he said one way or another. I too am hopeful but...just wonder what will come our way before EVERYONE wakes up.

Everyone will wake-up when, and only when, Christ returns ... and “every knee will bow”. Until then, it’ll turn around person-by-person.

Yes, I thought the USA was going to hell in the 1980s. The difference between than and now, is that I now KNOW we are going to hell in a handbasket. We are RACING TO SOCIALISM.

Yeah, I was thinking about Jarts this summer myself and they are long gone. I had a set of Fanner 50’s that used to shot plastic bullets that wouldn’t make it today either. And those things could have shot your eye out. lol

That was what I was thinking about with the admiral’s post.
Exactly when in my life did I think we didn’t have major
social and political problems to deal with since the 60’s?
