A surgeon in New Zealand has received a dressing down for swearing at a severely obese patient. The New Zealand Herald newspaper reports the doctor said "f..." at least three times after the 44-year-old obese woman told him she did not like the word "diet" and preferred the term "lifestyle".
The doc was right.
I hire for results. If I’m doing something that guarantees failure, I WANT someone in my face, even if I’m paying for it.
I didn’t spend 25 years in the military just to melt when someone cusses.
Our kids pediatrician once asked our kids about guns in the home. After the kids got done describing the 100th gun, she never asked again. I wonder why?
If you don’t want the truth, then DON’T ask. That applies even if you are a paying customer.
Well, that’s just not cool. Assuming you’re a guy, and I’ve seen enough of your posts. What if you went to the dr. And he says to you, “wow you have a f’n small c@#k. He’s being honest and accurate. But he’s also asking to get his face pounded.
Same deal.
“We got some good fascism juice going, I see. Stay classy! Your day is coming.”
And to paraphrase Martin Niemoeller (with apologies, but the principle is the same):
“First they came for the smokers and I didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t a smoker — let’s judge them, curse them out instead
Then they came for the obese and I didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t obese — let’s judge them, curse them out instead
Then they came for the elderly and I didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t old — let’s judge them, curse them out instead, do they want to live forever, let them die!
Then they came for the chronically ill and I didn’t speak out, because I wasn’t ill — let’s curse them out, they are using healthcare too much, do they want to live forever, let them die!
Then they came for me, and there was nobody left to speak out for me.”
“I didn’t spend 25 years in the military just to melt when someone cusses.”
Good for you, but that poor woman went to the doctor for help and I doubt she spent 25 years in the military.
All she asked for is to talk about changing her lifestyle, not call it “diet”. Does that deserve the curse outburst of the surgeon?
I’m assuming you’re fat.
Ham On It!
Hildy to Sara: “I’m assuming you’re fat.”
I am assuming Sara has COMPASSION, unlike you.
Compassion, excuses —are you on the right website?
Everybody is meeeeean —except YOU..! YOU CARE MORE...!
I am sorry you lost me at the wow.
Assumtion is, no doubt, the root of your mistaken sense of superiority over others.
Hildy, the day is going to come when you are not going to be so high and mighty and you are going to be dependent upon the compassion and mercy of other people. What you do comes back to you; so get it right while you still can.
I say this to you knowing that I have work to do in the mercy and compassion department of my life as well.
Thanks.
My point is that this lady didn’t deserve to be cursed at by her doctor. People don’t go to the doctor to be demeaned.
He doesn’t seem to have a communications problem, but her ears seem to be blocked by lard deposits!
I sometimes wonder why I involve myself in some of these discussions and with whom I am debating. Some folks seem like they don’t get out and mingle with humans.
“I doubt she spent 25 years in the military.”
That would explain the lard...
He walked into her room, told her she was too fat and if she didn't lose weight it would kill her. He then walked out...Hard news for patient, but total truth. He was not know to pussy foot around a problem. He charted exactly what he told her....patient charts are legal documents. And once something is written it cannot be white out or crossed off...not even on nurse notes..
If you are charting progress or problems with a patient, you can draw a line through what is written, but it must still be readable and then you have to initial it...
This doctor was a dozie..
