What does Palin need to do to lower her unfavoribles ?

Posted on 02/11/2010 4:11:59 PM PST by se_ohio_young_conservative

Do a majority of Americans honestly believe she is stupid ? I mean, seriously ?

How can her unfavoribles be so high ? What did she do wrong ? What is she not doing right ?

What does she need to do ? Take a nationally televised IQ test ?

I don't understand why so many regular people think the way they do about her. What happened ?

And unlike most if not all of the critics of Palin I see post on FR I have actually read her book and learned allot I didn't know before. She is a powerful woman who is not frighten by critical media or thugs within and outside of her party.
I was a Palin fan nearly half a year before McCain picked her. I was hoping for a Thompson/Palin ticket. Not being a fan of McCain like most here, I was doing cartwheels the day he picked her. I pray she returns to the political scene in 2012.

Just for the record, and for the education of those who are too young to remember the Reagan campaigns and thus don't know what makes a candidate a winner, consider this: Ronald Reagan won the presidency not with trivia, knowledge of detail, debating prowess or any of that crap.

Catching his opponent in a whopper, Ronald Reagan beat Jimmy Carter with a tossaway line: "There you go again." Destroyed the peckerwood's credibility in one breath.

He defeated Walter Mondale four years later with a joke: Threatened by an attack on him because of his age, President Reagan opened a debate by saying, with all seriousness, "I will not allow my opponent's youth and inexperience to become an issue in this campaign!"

Game, set, match. History to follow.

Palin does not need to run is 2012... Palin needs to help make sure no RINO gets the nomination.

If she does that, she has done us all a good service.

Its too early to decide who I will support for president. As I have said elsewhere, it will be someone who is in the fight now, though, and not someone who is waiting for his coronation. And it will not be someone who is wasting his ammo going after conservatives.

Let Palin be Palin. If she does nothing more than cheerlead the "tea partyers" then she can go down in history as the one who helped to shut-down a communist takeover, while the putative "front-runners" were busy polishing their position papers.

I like DeMint, and one thing you'll notice about him is that he never wastes any time attacking Palin or the tea-partyers. He never wastes any time attacking conservatives at all because, get this, he sees them as allies. Any supposed "Repub" who, in the middle of the fight of the century, is more worried about Palin than O's coup-d'etat against the constitution is someone I really don't have time for.

There are many things she could do. I will list just a few maybe other freepers can add more.
1. Maybe a documentary movie like Moore only showing the truth
of Conservatism—like something on Founding Fathers.
2. Take part on conferences with international leaders. A trip hunting with Putin might be good.
3. Visit Israel and meet with leaders.
4. Meet with Bush I and II.
5. Go hunting with Dick Cheney.
6. Write a new book that will look at the world.
7. Do a round the world trip—visiting some of the worlds best people—conservative leaders, artists, and statesman.

You picked up on a real, if minor problem. In her Nashville speech she did sound "pitchy." This happens with female voices on radio all the time, but it is correctible. It may have been a mediocre sound system at the hotel, because she didn't have this problem in her acceptance speech at the convention. Even so, it is something she and her people need to be cognizant of, and insure that she modulates her speech a bit in the upper ranges, and preferably pretest the sound system that is being used, wherever.

Duncan Hunter has no chance of being prez. He was a terrible candidate with no appeal, don’t forget he ran and was an absolute failure. You can take your ideals and pick out nobodies that no one would ever vote for all day. When it is time to pick you pick the best of those running and hope enough others pick her too.

Interesting analysis..you may be onto something. Beck said he had never met anyone with so many strong walls up.

-- it's difficult to imagine her trying to control Iran's ambitions with a wink and a perky "you betcha."

Maybe for you. Not for me. She took on Exxon and singlehandedly handed them their balls on a bottle. That Persian dildo with ears would be no match for Sarah Palin and the US Army.

There is a lot of Americans who privately root for Sarah, they really do like her because they can relate to her but they are uncertain at this time about her, and are more in a wait-n-see mode, once they see her make a move in a one on one situation, IMHO they will move in her direction.....meaning: One pivotal point will be the numerous Republican primary debates, if she make her move there and separate herself from the rest of the pack it will be crucial step forward. The second point will be the Presidential debates, remember despite the bad feelings and mood of the nation toward Jimmy Carter, Reagan was still down to him in the polls and didn’t clearly separate himself until the debates, IMO that’s where the rubber meets the road...ZERO vs. Sarah....all of the bickering and name calling will stop because we will see one on one action and all of the answers will be answered..

IMHO I believe Barry is truly frighten of her personally.

She should do nothing. Remember the libs tried to paint Reagan as a idiot back in the ‘80’s, doing that whole “Bedtime for Bonzo” thing, etc. He made out just fine.

Here's what Palin needs to do: She needs to contract with Glenn Beck's production and research team to assist her in producing hour long specials for Fox News on various topics; energy, the economy, monetary policy, Iran, War on Terror.

And what Palin does is interview experts in the various fields and wrap it up with a monologue of her own.

First program, energy, drill here, drill now and what using our own resources in America.

1. Use less of the same phrases over and over ie,”common sense solutions”

I disagree.

The opposition to Obama is "common sense". Small government, free markets, inalienable rights and the original intent of the Constitution are all common sense.

She SHOULD use the phrase "common sense" to label her points-of-view and to label her solutions particularly when she is addressing the sensible but brainwashed, unconverted.

I had some of the same thoughts. If she wants to run, she needs to come out and say so.

Second, she needs to lay out her contract for America. Where does she want to be at the end of her presidency and what is the specific plan on getting there.

Who would she pick for her cabinet positions. What judges does she have in mind for any supreme court openings.

Am I asking too much?

Memo to Sarah: "lacksadaisical" is not a word, but I've heard you use it twice in recent interviews.

Note also that Margaret Thatcher had to work very hard to perfect her public speaking style. She deliberately had to lower her voice's pitch to add some authority when she spoke to the (mostly) men in the House of Commons.

she references and footnotes from “very smart” people in her articles to support her own views

From what I've seen, she uses them to make her points, which is a different matter entirely. She needs to establish herself based on her own merits, not on her footnotes and references.

The poll shows that 71% of Americans do not think Palin is qualified to run for president, including 52 % of Republicans .
Her favorable/ unfavorables are not good.
These numbers are higher than they were a few months ago.
The numbers are important if she is considering a political future.
The FOX job may be a negative in that it seems FOX is overhyping her
( every show seems obligated to have a Palin segment-Hannity is the worst ) and over protecting her.
Every time someone says something critical about her, Hannity feels he must talk about it and defend her ,
something they don’t do for their other analysts.
I think the FOX contract complicates any efforts to turn these numbers around.
FOX interviewers cannot grill Palin like they would another politician, because she is now part of their brand.
She has to show gravitas and command of all issues and she has to reach beyond friendly FOX audiences.
They best way to do that is to run for the House or Senate , go to Washington, take her lumps and make her bones .
Leaving her governorship early will obviously complicate any future political hopes that she might have and the terms of her FOX contract may also limit the time she has to devote to running for statewide office.
She has to appear in non friendly venues and stand up and take the questions from hostile interviewers , but, again
the FOX contract would most likely forbid this.
I think people’s opinions of Palin are hardened and as difficult as it would be to make those who adore her, dislike her ,
it’s equally difficult to change a negative opinion into a positive.
