There are conservatives, including some of us here on Free Republic, that consider the song "We don't get fooled again!" to have a conservative theme.
The Who saved that for their final performance last night. Did anyone else note the extraordinary amount of cheering from the audience the first time they sang the refrain? Did you also catch Daltry's final line:
"DON'T YOU GET FOOLED AGAIN!!!" ?
The Who on their worst day beats rap (crap) and hip hop on it’s best day. That said, I enjoyed the show. The music was there and the vocals (hey at least I could distinguish the words). Yes, I noticed the lyrics.
As to the request for Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons, I liked that music back then, although the falsetto got to me after a while. I would like to see Kansas or Boston.
“Who played at halftime at the Super Bowl?”
“Yes.”
“What’s their name?”
“Who.”
“The band that played at halftime.”
“Who.”
“That’s what I’m asking. Who was it?”
“That’s right.”
Her first note and last note were both off.
I give The Who a C+ but they finished muy fuego.
Perhaps Branson, smaller venue and there will be tolerance for the walkers, canes, and geritol toddies.
Nope - missed it. Didn’t watch the two handpicked teams for this year’s stupid bowl.
Won't Get Fooled Again = CSI: Miami
Baba O'Riley = CSI: New York.

i’d prefer to remember them as they were and don’t need to see them here and now. they were greats, but dang, try to retain some dignity!
As for who could be in next year's, think about it:
Fleetwood Mac has disbanded, and the thought of a roundish pixie floating about the stage is unnerving at best, and nausea inducing at worst.
Kansas has broken up. One of the guys from Boston is dead. Toto? Maybe. Electric Light Orchestra? Even though a lot of their songs are used in commercials, it's been a Jeff Lynne thing for years. The Cars? Ocasek is in seclusion with his hot wife, and didn't perform on a tour this past year. (Todd Rungren took over lead, and I heard he wasn't bad.) Earth, Wind & Fire? Possibly. They have the most original members, IIRC, and they can still kick. The Village People? Please. Talking Heads would be fun, but they might be too wierd for Super Bowl.
Anybody else out there who might be able to do a Super Bowl show who isn't oversexed, too young to appeal to a wide audience, or a one-hit wonder?
Wait!! This just in.......ROXETTE will team up with ACE OF BASE for the 2011 Super Bowl!!!!!
I think AC/DC would be perfect, they are the last of the great “arena rock” bands.
The WHO also performed at the Concert for NY after 911. I will be forever grateful for their participation. In fact, they stole the show that night.
I think Guns and Roses would have been even better....not as “aged” as ACDC.....
I remember an interview someone did with Grace Slick. She lives out west in a gorgeous rustic home. She is a very talented painter and has aged gracefully.
She quit, got out of the rat race and pursues other talents.
I just think the SB was the wrong venue for them. But still, they blow people half their age off the stage.

BTW: I don't watch too much television, but is she another product of the Sheep Show that is "American Idol?"
You know who needs to hang it up and rely on their greats hits income? Yep.
Considering its was the WHO.. the only thing that could pop out would be someones TEETH... would have been funny during the harmonica bit.. i.e. Teeth popping out to the floor.. or in his hands..
The play Jersey Boys is great.
Maybe the dead ones like Keith Richards and Mick Jagger who still perform. Yes, they died in 1983 but have so many drugs in their systems that their bodies are preserved in death denial.
