I don’t because I like to lay low on the ‘net. Folks may find out I had a child with Katie Couric. Something I’m not proud of but not something I’d put on my profile page. Though I guess I could post a pic of the birth. Bless her heart, Katie was so cute as her head spun around.
Several months ago someone posted pretty much the same request. I obliged them...I posted my state flag :)
So sorry about all the adversity you’ve faced. I understand, as the last 3 years have been a great challenge to me and my hubby. But you do understand that it is during times of adversity that we should draw closer to God. I have grown more in my knowledge of God in the last 3 years, than I did in the previous 10. Get a good devotional and spend 30 minutes a day reading it, and your bible. I assure you, you will not live to regret it.
John 16:33
and, in addition, I feel that how far I draw back my curtains is my affair and not that of anyone else, including self described “family”.
I just put stupid pictures on mine. They’re all mine though.
Well, we have had periods where stalkers/moles/opponents and other creepy critters would use the information to ferret out locations, names, and other info that at best can be deleterious to one’s well-being, job, and health.
That’s where mine went, and why.
What if I like it that way?
Be careful, I put up some information about myself on my profile and ended up married to a Freeper who liked what I’d put up... Oh wait that was a good thing...
My profile pg tells all anyone here needs to know.
I used to have a killer about page before the creators of “Hello Kitty” got a restraining order against me.
I’m with a lot of other FReepers: I had some personal stuff on my page, and other posters used information to either attack me or stalk me. Now, I just have pictures I swiped from threads I liked.
Now people just look and say I’m unstable. I can deal with that. Give my name a click...
I have some info, but I put in the Marc Antony speech about Caesar because It was a fitting tribute for a friend and condemation for the people who murdered him.
I use my page to keep all my favourite poems in one place. As far as personal details go, I lie through my teeth about specifics in my posts, I’m certainly not laying it all out in a central depository.
This is not to deceive, but I’m a bit paranoid (too many Heinlein novels as a youth) so always file off the serial numbers, as it were.
I added the VISITED maps to mine. Already had a pretty good summary on there.
With all due repect, I don’t share a lot of things with people I know in person. I sure as heck ain’t gonna post stuff out on the net.
Anonymity is one of the hallmarks of public political discussion. Just ask Ben Franklin.
