LONDON, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- A London museum stripped its photographer of the year of his award Wednesday because judges now say he rented his subject from a wildlife park.
The picture by Spanish photographer Jose Luis Rodriguez was one of more than 43,000 submitted to the Natural History Museum's annual competition, The Guardian reported. It shows an Iberian wolf leaping a fence in an apparent effort to get to farm animals.
The museum removed the photograph from an exhibit of winners Wednesday, although it remains in books published by BBC wildlife. Rodriguez must return a 10,000-pound ($16,300) prize and cannot enter the competition again.
The judges were impressed by the photograph, with one calling it "a masterfully executed moment." But calls began coming in from other Spanish photographers saying they recognized the wolf, allegedly an animal named Ossian at the Canada Real wildlife park in Madrid.
Some experts also questioned the shot because a wild animal would be more likely to deal with a fence by wriggling between the bars than by jumping over it like a racehorse.

Photos are faked and staged all the time for the sake of fraud and theft.
Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

He really should have used a T-REX. The left would have clearly bought that, figuring the animal was resurrected due to global warming.

Ah, yes, the famous pic of Johnson and Boswell coming back late from a night on the town. Johnson is telling Boswell, "I can smell you in the dark!"
I knew from reading Boswell's Life that Johnson was one of the first to tumble to the fakery, and pursued it relentlessly, but didn't know the details.
I would hate to have ol' Sam after me. He was a formidable opponent.

I would hate to have ol' Sam after me. Me too. That cane in his hand? Anybody who hunts mad dogs with one is probably a little vigorous for me as well. His call about the War of Independence ending in "English superiority and American obedience" might have been a little off, though...
To: Billthedrill
He wasn't always
right, but he was very vigorous in defending his positions!
At the same time, he was a tenderhearted, kind man, and inclined to view his own faults severely. He stood in the rain in Lichfield marketplace all one day, in self-imposed penance for having been rude to his father.
And as ferocious as he was in his opinion of the Scots, nevertheless Boswell, a Scot, was his lifelong friend. His friends tolerated his eccentricities in respect of his kindness, loyalty, and integrity.
He was prickly, difficult, odd in his personal habits, but brilliant, devout, and kind. I would have been honored to make his acquaintance. . . maybe someday I will.

I used to hang out in a political forum with a bunch of people who had very strong opinions and no particular inclination to mute them.
Hey, wait a minute...
