This speech is to elementary school kids? You’ve got to be kidding.
As an aside, I note there are only 5 instances of “I” and 4 of “my,” probably a record for an Obama speech.
I am “offended” (said in my most smarmy liberal voice) by this statement in his speech: “We’re going to raise the bar for all our students and take bigger steps towards closing the achievement gap that denies so many students, especially black and Latino students, a fair shot at their dreams.”
It’s rascist and frankly makes no sense. First he says we’re going to raise the bar, and then he says he’s going to close the achievement gap. Those two things seem mutually exclusive. What does he really mean?
Unless he’s going to send fathers into black fatherless homes....... ??
