Jonathan Kroning has been stiffed by enough customers that it barely fazes him. The 20-year-old Pizza Hut driver doesn't like it, but that's part of the job.
"Customers complain all the time, and I'm used to stuff like that," said Kroning, of Oswego. "But never would I expect to get punched in the face."
According to Kroning, he delivered a Meat Lover's pizza to Shaver McNeil and his wife in Montgomery Monday night. Any tip is fine with Kroning. Three dollars is really good. Five dollars is "awesome."
But Kroning says McNeil and his wife offered nothing. So Kroning withheld the only thing he could: he didn't say "Have a good night." Instead, he took the $20.37 exact change and walked back to his car without a word, he says.

I used to work as a pizza delivery guy. Back when Domino’s was a 30 minutes or free business. I can believe how many times I got stiffed. One A$$hole gave me a nickel tip and thought it was funny.
The customers have no pizza savvy. How could they know it was not up to snuff? and if it is not the right pizza is on the next car out anyway, so you keep the bad pizza and complain so they bring you another pizza.
I used to keep 5 singles handy, if the guy was 30 min instead of 20 min I would tip 3 instead unless the pizza was obviously still hot.
....I would have reminded him, I'll probably be the guy that delivers your next one too...make sure you enjoy this one..mmmm mmm good, and then walk away
Good food or not if the server does a good job my wife and I tip 40%.
Pizza delivery is one job I wouldn’t have. Between robbers and idiots like this McNeil guy, I’d say it’s a downright dangerous profession.
God bless those who make these deliveries.
And a pox on McNeil. Guess he thought he was being a big macho guy by punching out the delivery man. Too bad there are no special criminal punishments for ignorant jerks.
but, given the type of people who work in restaurants these days, i EAT IN! ALL THE TIME!
When I delivered pizza there was one stoner house that was out of the way. They never tipped so I never delivered a hot pizza.
It is amazing how cold a pizza can get just sitting in my car with the box open while other customers are taking priority.
Chicago enough said. Not one of the friendliest place, I sure wish my brother would move.
I did it too back in junior college. One jerkwad even “tried’ to pay in monopoly money. Another paid IN COINS (pennies) to reach $21.
The most interesting was delivering to a gang neighborhood which I hated. One times I did which was a meeting between 2 Asian gangs, everyone was packing heat and they tipped handsomely like $20. One of them even gave me a 6-pack of Heineken for delivering on time...
I understand the assault charge but not sure I understand the felony robbery. He forced the delivery man to return the price of the pizza but returned the pizza (now worthless, of course). Is $20 enough to make it a felony?
Time for a "pizza summit"? (snicker)
Never play card with a guy named Doc
Never deliver a meat lovers pizza to a guy named Shaver.
what punks.
Man, that’s crazy. I always tip our delivery people at least $5.00, as a rule, but if we order more than $20.00, the tip goes up.
When we go out to eat, we always tip at least 30%, if not more. We usually tip more when we’ve heard a customer treat our server like crap.
Tips are stupid. Get a paying job.
Dave Ramsey advises people who are trying to get out of debt to take on a pizza delivery job as a second job. So we always tip a minimum of $5.
Not tipping = spit on your pizza the next time you order.
