Responding to customers' complaints, Publix has stopped distributing a free 2010 calendar that marked Dec. 7 as the start of the Islamic New Year but excluded Pearl Harbor's anniversary.
Joyce Kaufman, whose radio talk show on WFTL-AM 850 is broadcast from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach counties, as well as other locations, criticized the supermarket chain on her show Wednesday, saying the company failed to include Pearl Harbor in a calendar that it had widely provided at supermarkets in recent weeks.

Ugh!
What have we come to, my God, what have we come to :(
Aldi is supposedly opening stores in South FloridA Searched the Internet and found this. They have Aldi and Trader Joes (gourmet and other food at great prices).

Publix needs to be afraid. Wal Mart threw in the towel in Germany because Aldi is so strong. Muslim Publix needs to be worried.
Give those people a rubber stamp with their holidays or whatever on it and let them stamp their own calendars ... leave ours alone ....
Way to be, Joyce. Action like this gives me hope. I can still remember when America was America.
Equally as important, why aren't we raising hell with complaints that 9/11 isn't memorialized on calendars?
Amen.
Sorry Frantzie,
I’m not the biggest fan of Publix and their high prices, especially after this stunt, but I doubt Aldi’s will ever overtake Publix. They recently opened an Aldi’s near me. I went there and it was one of the worse shopping experiences I have ever had. The brand new place looked worse than the dirty, dingy, old Winn Dixies in my area, and they force you to pay a 25 cent shopping cart deposit fee. The foods are mostly off brands and they don’t even provide grocery bags. They will sell you bags though, and you have to bag everything yourself.
If I want cheap, off brand/Chinese made, I can go to Walmart. Publix is usually clean, modern and well stocked. When I need a specific name brand, they usually carry it. They have people to bag the groceries and carry them to your car. I may have to pay more at Publix, but they have the best service of all the stores where I’ve shopped.
I’m glad they decided to do the right thing and get rid of that calendar.
Let 'em make their OWN rubber stamps! LOL
No, sell them rubber stamps made out of pig stuff ... if you give it to them free they’ll be suspicious .....
thanks left that other site.

I like Publix, it’s our favorite store down here. Wal-mart may have some things cheaper but I have to fight off the Mexican and El Salvadorans for a spot in the cashier’s line that is poorly manned.
I would rather pay a little more and go to a clean, well stocked place with plenty of aisles open and pleasant staff.
Actually they have a lot of buy-one, get one-free stuff that we actually use so we do pretty well there. Our only other option is a Food Lion but it’s pretty old and dingy too.
I like to at least feel clean in my grocery store!
Good for those who noticed the omission of Pearl Harbor Day and called it to the attention of Publix!
When it no longer matters enough to us to remember and honor those who participated in significant events in our history, those memories will be replaced with whatever matters to others who hope to change America into something never intended by our Founders and Framers.
Thanks so much for the ping. I went into my local store today with calendar in hand to complain. I confronted the manager and drew a small crowd. It was a very small stand that I could take for our troops but a satisfying one.
Thanks for the ping!
