**THE 2009-10 BCS National Championship Game Live Thread**

Posted on 01/07/2010 12:10:45 PM PST by GOP_Raider

Well, here it is, the final game of the 2009 college football season. For much of the bowl season, I've had to work, get my car fixed, and Google search any insignificant question and computer problem my grandparents call me about. (You would think with their age and guile they'd have the answers to various things readily available. You would think). So needless to say, this has kept me from my assigned college football commenting duties. For that I apologize, but tonight I will get the festivities going. So without further ado...

The BCS National Championship Game: Alabama vs. Texas (8:00 pm) From the moment this matchup was set, I've been pondering what the key to this game should be and ultimately what it will be. Could it be the Longhorn offensive line having a chance to contain the legendary Mt. Cody? How about the Tide secondary and what they'll have to do to contain Jordan Shipley? And let us not forget the mystery of chessboxing that could occur between Nick Saban and Mack Brown. But I keep hearing that the Tide are going to make mince meat of the Horns, and that kind of ignores recent history. What did we learn from the last time we saw Texas in a title game? We should have learned not to count them out, right? So keep this in mind before we coronate a team in a game like this. In my usual neutral third party kind of observational style though, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Tide aren't every bit as good as advertised. I happen to think so, for whatever that's truly worth.

Texas is now paying the price of keeping Colt McCoy in blowout games to run up statistics rather than letting the backup quarterbacks play and get experience.

Well, what the hell else are we supposed to do with BCS rules?

The hell you say we can’t. I’ve been waitng since Jan1, 1065 to beat texas.

It’s a shame about McCoy, though. God b;ess him.

Well if Sam Bradford was healthy, does Texas even sniff the Championship game? Them’s the breaks.

Yeah. Too bad about Bradford and McCoy, and too bad about Tebow’s concussion too.

also...you take a terrible risk running the option when you don’t have a capable backup. Texas was moving down the field before Mack Brown called the option. It made little sense when he called it...it made less sense when you saw the backup QB for Texas.

TCU had the best yards per game defense. Click each category and it will put them in order.

Well, it feels that long. Of course, I meant 1965

Yeah ... I swear I saw them on top of the list on total defense just yesterday. Must’ve read something wrong.

Oh I’m not knocking Bama, don’t get me wrong. They are my number three favorite team. I said on my Heisman thread that Ingram was my pick if McCoy didn’t get it. I was thrilled for Ingram when he won.

There’s no comparison tonight, though. A team at full strength playing a shellshocked team with a frosh at the helm. Too bad TX defense isn’t helping things...

It’s an anti-climatic finish to the season with mcCoy injured. But, like someone else said, if Sam Bradford stayed healthy the entire season plays out differently.

Congrats to Alabama.

This is why they went out and got Saban.

One thing I’ll say — these announcers are very annoying.

Just the one that talks all the time like he could coach a team.

The one that kept saying that the freshman QB had to take some chances, and then when he did and threw two interceptions, said the coach was stupid for taking chances with a freshman QB.

Well, this is one way to get a new QB experience, I suppose.
