The Village at Fairview, TX. A Mystery or Something More Sinister?
The Village Shopping ^ | unknown | Rich Morgan, et. al.

Posted on 01/02/2010 8:12:30 AM PST by IllumiNaughtyByNature

OK, so today I drive by the Monoliths and notice the dates on the lower corners of each side. I start googling them and finally go to the website and find the following...

...some elements of the artwork remain elusive — including a cryptic series of dates ranging from September 23, 1899 to January 15, 2096. According to Morgan, there is no right or wrong answer for what the dates mean, everyone will come up with a different solution.

“I want to spur a variety of thoughtful interpretations, rather than a quick and intuitive reaction,” Morgan says of his work, which he leaves open to interpretation. “I want my work to require slow and deliberate analysis, revealing its layers and mysteries over time. Although I'm comfortable with my artwork being seen as a decorative object, I hope it will entice viewers to take a closer look — and will reward those who do.”

What will you discover in this unique work of art? There’s no right or wrong answer — and there’s only one way to find out. Visit The Village at Fairview and The Village at Allen soon to discover our truly unique collection.

OK, FReepers, get your hats on and start working on it.

A couple of notes:

1. I doubt that the artist pick "random" dates.

2. The text above indicates that there "could" be an answer to the riddle.

3. Why do this in a public place?

4. Does the city(s) know if there is an answer?

5. If so, is it nefarious or humorous?

6. Is there a larger message within the riddle?

Have you seen anything like this anywhere else?

Well, I did a little calculating.

07/16/1921 - 09/20/1899 = 7969 days

05/09/1943 - 07/16/1921 = 7967 days

03/01/1965 - 05/09/1943 = 7967 days

12/26/1986 - 03/01/1965 = 7970 days

10/15/2008 - 12/26/1986 = 7964 days

08/28/2030 - 10/15/2008 = 7987 days

05/31/2052 - 08/28/2030 = 7947 days

03/24/2074 - 05/31/2052 = 7967 days

01/16/2096 - 03/24/2074 = 7968 days

There seems to be somewhat of a pattern in the day’s differences between successive dates. 7967 days seems to be some kind of re-appearing difference.

"Didn’t even know there was a Fairview, San Saba, TX

That's near my work and where I grew up, in Comanche, TX. There is not much there, even by West Texas standards.

Those differences should include the effects of leap years.

There doesn’t seem to be a pattern in the days, but it is 22 years minus two months or 21.8 years between the dates. An average of 7967 days. There are three years that are off but when averaged come out to 7967.

8/15/2030 7964
6/28/2052 7987
3/31/2074 7947

Two of the three years that are off wear leap years.
8/15/2030 7964 leap year
6/28/2052 7987
3/31/2074 7947 leap year

The years were all 22 between each date and the
months were always -2 between each month
The pattern quit when it got to days unless
there is an if statement that we are not aware of.

The number 7967 is the chemical ID # for cyclohexanone, an industrial chemical.

October 15, 2008 was the date that the Fairview/Allen mall first opened.

Actually, it is a single location, not two. The monolith/artworks are built on the median on Stacy Road, which is the dividing line between Allen and Fairview, TX. On the north side, is the Fairview Village mall, and on the south side is the Allen Village mall. It’s basically a single development straddling the two towns.
