So that’s “Sir Picard”, not “Captain”?

Yeah, give the knighthood to a guy who’s greatest achievement is playing a starship captain that would have surrendered to C3P0.

Nothing against Stewart and Jackson but aren’t they throwing around knighthood a little too loosely lately? I believe the “Order of Merit” is what is specifically designated for achievement in the arts, literature and other tasks of the sort. Knighthood used to be reserved for high civil service and direct service to the crown.

I just remembered Patrick Stewart's role in "Excalibur". Can you tell which one he is?
(Psst....it's the bald one).

Hooray for Sir Peter Jackson!!!
His King Kong gets better with every viewing, and his Lord of the Rings trilogy was excellently well done and has brought much joy and good entertainment to millions. He has also provided gainful employment to probably tens of thousands of people -- Peter Jackson is a citizen of the world who has brought good, good, and more good.
As for Patrick Stewart ... kudos to him, too, but on balance, I'd say Peter Jackson was far and away the better gift to the world.
