For some examples, tune in to Hannity's show in the afternoon and hear young (I assume) females who speak in some sort of Valley Girl / Munchkin combination of vocabulary and inflection.
In the interest of equal treatment, many young males also exhibit poor communication skills; but poor in a different way. Many sound like remarkable apes who have learned rudimentary human speech.
What is the cause of this loss of standard speech?
This has been troubling me for quite some time. The last day of the year is a good time to get it out of my head and out there for discussion.
Thank you for letting me share!
chalk it up to another Gramscian success: ‘the long march through the institutions’ has impacted just about everything. Dullards are so much easier to herd than bright, articulate people.
Who needs an education when big-daddy government just gives you everything you need?
Worked with a young man who used that term all the time. Tried to correct him to no avail. It's a shame because he was ordinarily very intelligent, but using “axe” for “ask” made him look like a dimwit.
I'm not talking about regional dialects, which I happen to love. I'm talking about the affected and adopted speech patterns that young people are picking up.
People rarely converse. They listen to music, radio, tv, games...but they do not know how to process and speak.
Fo’ shizzle, dog!
Anyways
Oooooh......”di-int” is my biggest pet peeve.
I think it’s just lazy speaking. Hate it.
(like, you know?)
Hormone Replacement Therapy?
I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, people out there in our nation don’t have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children.
Veni, Vidi, Vicki: “I came, I saw, and I’m like, Omigod!”
“Uhhhhhhh?”

Often, the young of today are only able to utter three and a half words of any sentence, before the thought wanders off to oblivion. When you ask them what they are trying to say, it is answered with, "Whaaa??"
Real idiots out there these days and its only getting worse...
Guy goes into a bar, man, theres a robot bartender.
The robot says, man, What will you have? The dude says, like, Martini. The robot brin’s back thuh best martini ever and says to thuh man, man, Whats your IQ? The dude says, like, wow, 168. The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, like, space exploration and medical technology.
The dude blows, man, but he is curious, man, so he goes back into thuh bar. The robot bartender says, What will you have? The dude says, fer shure, Martini. Again, man, the robot makes a awesum martini, like, gives it to thuh man and says, like, wow, Whats your IQ? The dude says, man, 100. The robot then starts to talk about NASCAR, fer shure, Budweiser and John Deere tractors.
The dude blows, fer shure, but finds it super cool, mostly, so he thinks he will try it one more time. That dude goes back into thuh bar. The robot says, like, What will you have? The dude says, mostly, Martini, man, and thuh robot brin’s that dude another awesum martini. The robot then says, mostly, Whats your IQ? The dude says, oh, baby, Uh, oh, baby, about 50. The robot leans in real close and says, like, So, man, you guys still happy you voted for Obama?
A show I love to watch the is Rachel Zoe project. Her speech is ultimate valley girl. I mean “like” it is “bananas” and “I die.” The weird thing is her two assistants talk just like her. I thought valley girl speech went out in the ‘80s but not so.
I am a Valley girl but never caught the speech unless someone calls me valley chick, then I have fun with it.
+100
